Liked it a lot. One of the better films of the year, no question. Not sure Twilight can live up to it when it comes out next week.

Anyone who dares to tell me in this Anno Domini 2008, that The Strangers is a better horror movie than Let The Right One In, is henceforth dead to me.
Seriously, this is one far-out frightfest.
I'm not joking.
(I'm just glad no one told me it was a Swedish vampire movie before I went!)

So do most viewers, obviously. Because unlike the book the movie is not excplicit about the backstory. However the stitches thing is in therre to imply that. Of course it gets overseen often, but well, I am sure that that is what it is supposed to mean and it's fine by me. In fact it twists the thing a lot more...I like it.
I think the film implied the same thing that the book said openly, but I suppose that was too messed up even for a Swedsh film to just state obviously.

Well, The Strangers is a better horror movie because Let the Right One In is barely even horror, heh. It IS a much better movie, however.

It's about as much pure horror as Blade is horror or Pan's Labyrinth is horror.

I am downloading this one since a screener showed up online. It will never come here so I have no choice but to download it. Don't judge me . It's not like I won't buy it on DVD anyway if I love it like I think I will.

Once we see the genital area I figured Eli was a boy who had their genitals removed, and I knew nothing of how it was in the book before seeing the movie. I wonder how the US version will handle this. I can't help but feel a lot will be lost in the remake.

an utterly boring flick .... at no point did it really engage me ... sadness as i thought the concept and the characters were good.

boring at times but still very good overall. Same grade as twilight, haven't decided which is better yet.

Re: Låt den rätte komma in [Let the Right One In]
Thank you everyone for not telling me that this was a romantic. A little gay love story, to be exact --> how cute This really took me by surprise. For me, this was a story of two lonely person, who seems to fit with nowhere except with each other. Such a beautiful love story. And the score, loved it! APS. highly recommend to Corpse.. you'll love it! snack wrote: Liked it a lot. One of the better films of the year, no question. Not sure Twilight can live up to it when it comes out next week. Re: Låt den rätte komma in [Let the Right One In]
Quoted from that other thread... Bradley Witherberry wrote: Mike wrote: I actually think the ones who will like this the most aren't the horror fans. That is true if you're referring to the modern horror genre movies that come out once a week - - the standard b-movie with an a-budget featuring teens in trouble, torture, and jump cuts, and then of course, a screenplay written by a trained seal. Let The Right One In, however, is horror in the deeper sense of the word, as in skin-crawling, soul-shaking, truly disturbing... LTROI isn't designed to make your movie date snuggle up closer to you, but rather to make them edge away and look at you with suspicious revulsion...

Beautiful, elegant little movie about young love and vampires. A modern horror classic.

Just finished it...
What I was most surprised about was the cinematography and direction. Some of the shots (the pool finale), holy smokes!!!
And Sweden officially passes Transylvania as the most unsettling location in Europe.

Re: Låt den rätte komma in [Let the Right One In]
Terriffic movie. The only real complaint I have is the ending, I think they tried to make it too hollywoodish. It had this eerie feel to it, and the setting of the movie fit perfectly. Great cinematography and acting just adds to the list of things amazing about this movie.
