Mean Girls
Mean GirlsQuote: Mean Girls is a 2004 American teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters. The screenplay was written by Tina Fey and based in part on the non-fiction book Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman, which describes how female high school social cliques operate, and the effect they can have on girls. The film stars Lindsay Lohan and features a supporting cast of Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert and Lizzy Caplan. The film is produced by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. Screenwriter and co-star of the film, Tina Fey, was a longtime castmember and writer for SNL. The film also features appearances from SNL cast members Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer and Amy Poehler.
The film was generally well-received by critics and was a big financial success, grossing $129,042,871 worldwide. Mean Girls has been praised as Lohan's break-out film role. Mean Moms, a quasi-spin-off, based on Wiseman's second book, Queen Bees Moms & King Pin Dads, is also in development.

Very well written and hillarious, very surprising as I despise most of the teen comedies out these days. Lindsay Lohan is great as always, as is the supporting cast. (Especially McAdams) I should really get the DVD, I have a yearning to watch it again.

Funny movie, but some of the mannerisms was unnecessary. But it is smart.

This is not the type of movie I normally pay to watch. I saw this on an overseas flight. Don't like the genre and that was sustained by this stupid movie.

It has a great start, but then gets redundant. It is a neat idea to fantasize the teenagers an animals the first time, but at least when they do it the third time it gets boring. And compared to movies like Heathers or Election it just is just not edgy enough. You have the obvious happy ending instead of a bitter ending which would have fitted the movie far better.

Why doesn't this movie get raved about by anyone? I found it to be a classic like another school comedy, Ferris Buehler's Day Off , though admittedly , I like the latter better as it's one of my all time favorites. I think Mean Girls is better than Clueless , which is a guilty pleasure of mine. I discovered the reason Lindsay Lohan lust exists. Tina Fey (who I also lust after) wrote a very funny screenplay, and I wish that more of this humor would find it's way onto SNL. Some of the comedy was side splitting, like when Regina gets (spoiler) hit by the bus, for instance.
This should be required viewing for any teenage guy who wants to get a clue about how girls are. Life would have been so much simpler if I had a guide like this to follow. #-o A very interesting journey of a teenage girl who is out of her element, and learns some of the nastiest behavior possible as she goes to school for the first time in her life. (had been home schooled) I would own this movie. It would appear to be the type that can be watched over and over for years.

Boy, it sure does by high schools. I read the local high school's student-run newspaper every time it comes out, and there is always at least one reference to Mean Girls in there, almost a year after it came out. This movie had more of an impact on high schools than anything else in at least 10 years, I think.
It also made $86M at the box office, which is huge for a movie with a limited budget.

Very deserving of that kind of recognition too, as it's a modern day classic IMO. It just doesn't seem to get much attention from people online, as if they've never seen it or they are embarrassed to talk about it. I think "chick flick" is definitely the perception of it on the outside, but I look at it as a flat out comedy, and a darn funny one.

I posted in here before, but I'll do it again  I love MEAN GIRLS, and I find it much better then CLUELESS (7/10 or B-), but the main star (Alicia Silverstone) is obviously much hotter then Lindsay Lohan.

Great movie. Witty and sharp, just like the sexy Tina Fey herself. My favorite line - "Danny DeVito! I love your work!" My grade - A-!
