A charming and funny romantic comedy that deserved a theatrical release. It's better than a great deal of films in the genre that are released today. The script by Amy Heckerling is hilarious and spot-on in its mocking of celebrity culture and our society's obsession with "being young." A lot of time is taken to develop the characters as well, which is why this movie is ultimately so successful. Pfeiffer is at her best, showing great comedic timing and delivering an effortlessly lovable perfomance. Paul Rudd is great as well, and the two have believable chemistry throughout. Saorise Ronan steals every scene she is in as well. Highly recommended. I can't believe how poorly this film was handled by its studio. It could have been a big hit. B+

Really enjoyable and Saorise Ronan was really awesome and hysterical in it. Definitely recommended and it should have gone to theaters.

7/10 ( B )

Richard Roeper and A.O. Scott just reviewed this on "Ebert and Roeper." They both really enjoyed it and mentioned how great Pfeiffer was in particular. I'm glad to see it getting support.

I COULD NEVER BE YOUR WOMAN - 8/10 (B+)

A hilarious, charming blast! I smiled a lot. Paul Rudd is adorable and laugh-out-loud funny, and he steals the show. I absolutely loved him here! But also great are Michelle Pfeiffer and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), who was really funny.

This probably wouldn't have done that well at the Box Office, but it's still too bad it didn't get a theatrical release.

It's a shame this is a Blockbuster Exclusive and it's less accessible to everyone.

Damn, no wonder I couldn't find this at Hollywood Video when I went to rent movies on Friday. Seeing as I don't do the whole Blockbuster thing, I may just have to blind-buy this one.

After an unholy trinity of villainous performances (White Oleander, Hairspray and Stardust), Pfeiffer is finally back in romantic comedy territory. It's just a shame she was relegated to direct to DVD status, but don't miss out on this because of that. As good as Pfeiffer is, Paul Rudd and Atonement's Sairose Ronan steal this movie. Ronan is going to be huge.

My grade: B+.

I Could Never Be Your Woman

I only watched this for David Mitchell, but he's hardly in it. Still, it was good to see a third of his film appearances in only 90 minutes. I was surprised by just how many British comedy stars are in the film; Graham Norton, Olivia Colman, David Mitchell, Mackenzie Crook, Steve Pemberton, and Ed Byrne. But the real star of the show was Saoirse Ronan. Terrific performance. Michelle Pfeiffer was nice too, as was Jon Lovitz, but neither were as brillant as Paul Rudd. I enjoyed the film in a casual "it's on while I'm doing other things" way.
