 From Hell
From Hell Quote: From Hell is a 2001 American thriller-horror-mystery film about the Jack the Ripper murders, loosely based on the graphic novel of the same title by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell. It was directed by the Hughes brothers, the first film that they directed outside of the hood film genre. It was first released on October 19, 2001.

I love Johnny Depp and Heather Graham but this one was pretty bad.

This was quite a disappointment considering the potential that this movie had. The reveal of Jack the Ripper's identity was forseeable halfway into the movie. Johnny Depp was good as usual and I also liked Heather Graham's performance. The movie's ending was great, especially the way Jack the Ripper was handled. I liked the visual style of the movie and the (good) production values, but the movie lacked a bit in the plot department and character development.

Looks STUNNING, but the script's a big mess. Nonetheless, it's probably worth watching for atmosphere alone.

Good performances, great style, and lots of blood mixed with bad pacing and a predictable plot.

I'm surprised about all the negative rewievs. I loved the film. It had a great atmosphere, was suspensful and interesting and Johnny Depp was awesome. A-

 Re: From Hell
Terrifically atmospheric with a great performance from Depp. That alone makes it watchable.

 Re: From Hell
Frustrating movie. I want it to be better than it is. Because it's AMAZING on a technical level--the atmosphere!--and Depp does a good job. But then there's always Heather Graham and the third act and other shortcomings.

 Re: From Hell
Haven't seen it since it first hit video. I might like it a little better now, but at the time I absolutely hated it and gave it an F.
