ROCKY 44: This time ROCKY Fights a newcomer who calls himself "RETIREMENT".. This movie was as laughable as can be and even more laughable at the sound of the punches being thrown and landing that sounded like cannons going off.. I gave this an "F"..

A Nightmare on Elm Street was fine when I was fuc*ing 16 years old Zing.. That seems like a life time ago for a movie that's basically dated when considering the types of movie's released over a 20 year period.. Elm Street just doesn't hold up well and is laughable at times to the point of annoyance.. Even the Friday the 13th movie's have descended into this catagory..

Rocky IV

I always look forward to the time when I know I'm going to revisit a Stallone movie. I planned to watch Rocky IV this evening and from start to finish I had a smile on my face. It's my favourite movie ever made. It's the ultimate good vs. evil revenge movie, and yet it's only a PG - that's the amazing part. This probably has more blood in it than a gangster movie! I'm not going to devalue this film by calling it "fun" or "popcorn entertainment", because it's much more than merely trashy cinema (I'm sure it is to some), for me it's a monumental achievement designed for and successful in affecting 1980s society and popular culture. I'm not even going to get into the politics, but this film has achieved more than people give it credit for. It's perfection from start to finish.

A+

I've just done a workout to the full Rocky IV soundtrack. Man that felt so amazing. I haven't done it for a few years. It's still the best collection of songs to work out to. I also have the rare unreleased tracks like "Drago's theme".

Soundtrack A+
Film A+
Story A+
Marketing A+

Rocky IV is beyond a film. It is an offering from God. And that God is Sylvester Stallone.

I love love love the training montage in the film while "Hearts on Fire" is playing.

It's the best film ever made. No question. I just did a workout to the Rocky IV soundtrack, and at the end of it I screwed up a piece of paper that I keep tucked in the top right hand corner of my laptop.

This was the first Rocky I saw, my most watched and considered it my favorite also. I think I last saw it about 5 years and already grounded as one of the best films ever and decided to revisted it again yesterday with Creed II coming up. And Rocky IV is just a perfect film, it's incredible how it's kept Rocky so relevant through 4 films and this just does everything right. Right from the exciting Eye of the Survivor opening, to everything after and ending with the great Rocky-Drago fight.
The Apollo death and how he come to his end is so impactful, I can feel it in my throat, not many films achieve that. And it's montages are perhaps the best ever too, with an unbeatable soundtrack. And what a character is Drago, great villain, perfectly characterized by Lundgren. I could go on really, and there's a shortage of superlatives to describe the film, it nails everything.
Without a doubt it's among the best films ever.

A+
