What's the release date anyway?

And yes, I'm almost positive that I'll cream over it.

Caine and Owen and Cuaron and sci-fi.

December 25th in the US, I think.

It's the best film you'll ever see. EVER.

I could possibly see it sooner while in Amsterdam. But between the fucking and drug use, not much time for the kino.

I forgot to add Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The most amazing thing for me about the action at the end is the incredible continuous tracking shot. It totally immerses you in the action.

I was forcing a pal to watch the film last night and found myself constantly saying "watch this tracking shot - no edits!", and I hadn't realised just how incredibly long the tracking shot from Clive smacking Peter Mullan with a rock to him entering the under-assault-building really was. It's mind-boggling how well directed this film is.

I need to get in touch with Attodr. Does anyone know if American films played in Japanese theatres are subtitled or dubbed?

Bah, who cares?! You need to see this movie now.

Might I suggest torrenting it...?

There's a copy out there that's pretty damn good. Unfortunately it cuts off the principle's heads from time to time.

I've watched it about 7 times and it gets better with more viewings. Honestly, I'd watch it in the cinema first...

I haven't been to Japan, but I believe it will be subtitled based on other Asian countries.

Both, but most are subtitled. Just ask the staff in English to be sure. Most of them will understand. Or just ask "eigo desu ka?" (long a sound + go for eigo)

I'll be a little surprised if it's playing yet. It takes about 3-9 months for most Hollywood movies to get to Japan unless it's a blockbuster. Current releases in Osaka are The Devil Wears Prada and World Trade Center.

I actually haven't left yet (I pushed back the trip from Thursday for a few days to help finish off a bad cold). But I will have fun, oh I will.

It's actually a very flawed film technically.

How so? Please expound, so that I might shoot your comments down in a longwinded, boring argument.

When? Looking at the "Children Of Men is a masterpiece" thread, your only real comment on its technical faults is:

getluv wrote:
Luckily I didn't fall asleep in the first five minutes. While I do think this is a good movie, I can't help but fault the problems in the end. I was also concerned with the lack of depth into the whole "why" issue, which puts it into a science fiction based film.

What problems in the end?

The "why" issue is something I'm a bit baffled people feel is a flaw. If they knew why people had stopped having babies, surely they'd be better equipped to sort out a cure. The whole reason the world's turned to anarchy and chaos is because people don't know "why" it's happened. It's the reason people were preaching on the streets and sects like "the flagilators" turned up. Being spoon-fed a reason for it would've detracted from the overall theme - hopelessness and confusion.

Besides anything else, "why" did AIDS come along? There are theories (boh scientific and conspiracy) about it, and, after years of investigation, there's some evidence to assume it evolved from SIV (simian immuno-deficiency virus), but that still leaves the question, where did SIV come from?

I'd be interested to know what the technical flaws you think the film had are?

Saying that, I appreciate that you "think this is a good movie"! Praise like that is enough to get you honorary membership in my Children Of Men Oscar Clean-up Club!
