Quote:
Spaceballs is a 1987 American science fiction comedy parody film co-written by, directed by, Mel Brooks and starring Bill Pullman. It also features John Candy, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, Mel Brooks, and the voice of Joan Rivers.

The film was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on June 24, 1987, and earned mixed reception. It later became a cult classic on video and one of Brooks' most popular films. Its plot and characters parody the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as other sci-fi films like Star Trek, Alien and the Planet of the Apes films.

Some truly classic scenes like ASSHOLES and "The Raspberry". but its more uneven then some of Brooks earlier work.

A worthy companion to Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, the last (as far as I'm concerned) great Brooks spoof. As with the others, he obeys the genre conventions where needed and delivers a great parody in the process.

That's the same combination I have on my luggage.

Its a great classic because it works on two levels. It has a well grounded plot, and storyline, and is a great spoof of many science fiction classics. As a youngster it has the ability to have fun characters, cool effects, and great action moments. The acting is top notch, and though it might not be Brooks funniest film, it is easily his most ambitious effort.

Solid A

It's hilarious, you won't get a better Star Wars parody than this. It is also (thanks to Mel Brooks), not just a stupid senseless spoof like Scary Movie, but actually a comedy with a real storyline. Yes, it is a bit too stupid for its own good at some points, but overall its silliness is great and it is very inventive and just throughout fun. It reminds me of how good of a comedian Rick Moranis once used to be. Bill Pullman and John Candy (in one of his last great roles) make a perfect buddy pairing in this one. Awesome fun that everyone should see. Mel Brooks at the top of the game.

Just watched this, the spoof of Alien is the best, the black is the best.

His story about Pluto, to Kane's cameo, to

"Get this guy some water"
"Water my ass, get this guy some pepto Bismol!

I love this movie.
