Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (also known as Garfield 2: The Prince and the Paw-per in the United Kingdom, Garfield: The Movie 2 or its working title Garfield 2) is the 2006 sequel to 2004's live-action feature film Garfield: The Movie. This film was directed by Tim Hill, written by Joel Cohen & Alec Sokolow, produced by Davis Entertainment for 20th Century Fox, and was released in U.S. cinemas on June 16, 2006 (July 21, 2006 in UK).

The film borrows its storyline from Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper. The title alludes to Charles Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities.

So, I had to see Garfield 2. I love Bill Murray, I love Garfield, but I hated the first movie. I decided to let the love rule out the hate.

Sadly, the big-screen version of the plump, lasagna-lovin' feline is still far from perfect. But, this film seems to surpass the original's quality. I found myself chuckling here and there, which is more than I could have expected. Breckin Meyer as Jon, Garfield's owner and best friend, is almost a supporting character here, while Jennifer Love Hewitt's role almost seems like a cameo. I can't complain, because the film's asset is Garfield (and this time around, it sounds like Bill Murray is having more fun as Garfield).

I don't even want to give a brief recap of the film, because it's almost irrevelant. You know how the film will end from the opening minutes. There's nothing unpredictable. The only reason to see it is Garfield. I suppose if I were a kid, I'd love this film, and that's all that really matters, considering it IS a kids movie.

Grade: C

This is from the perspective of someone who really liked the first movie (B+). This second one felt disappointing in comparison. What's so great about Garfield is the actual Garfield character as voiced by Bill Murray along with the familiar friends in neighborhood. However, the creation of the new Prince character along with all the new characters in U.K. that takes up more than 50% of the screentime is very dull and not something that Garfield fans will be interested in. I give it a C.
