Ah, what a delightful movie! It's just Bogie and Hepburn, the former drunken, the latter shrewish, floating through the jungle and getting out of close scrapes. Simple setup; magical result.

 Re: The African Queen
I'm a fan... great, great movie. It's pretty special that even though the acting style is the old stage-like version, the characters nevertheless feel completley natural and real. Most thanks to Bogart and Hepburn's great performances. I actually think the romance here works better than in does in Casablanca One thing I like is that they let Rosie actually do stuff and let her get dirtied up, having her get in the water and reeds goes against a lot of stereotypes and borders at the time. And naturally, she's the one who wants to go through with the explosion. I also liked little moments that didn't have much to do with the overall storyline, like the part where she's pouring coffee and misses the cup. Or Bogart imitating the animals. A true classic.

 Re: The African Queen
Humphrey Bogart is my favorite actor from this era and he was great in this, he showed some range in this movie. After watching this and older movies, it gets me wondering why is Hollywood afraid of long scenes?

 Re: The African Queen
Two great performances make this one really good movie. It's easily watchable and so fun.
8/10 or a B+
ETA: I don't think I'd realized that Bogey won the Oscar for this.
