 Elektra
Elektra Quote: Elektra is a 2005 superhero film directed by Rob Bowman. It is a spin-off from the 2003 film Daredevil, starring the Marvel comics character Elektra Natchios (played by Jennifer Garner). The story follows Elektra, an international assassin whose weapon of choice is a pair of sai.
For the screenplay, Zak Penn, Stuart Zicherman and Raven Metzner received "written by" credit. Mark Steven Johnson received credit for "motion picture characters" and Frank Miller for "comic book characters."

Elektra was fantastic. It was just a great action movie, with a good mix of drama and some funny moments. Jennifer Garner does a remarkable job, as does the rest of the cast. Despite playing an assassin, she is still quite likeable. The action scenes were well-executed and stylish all-around. But one aspect of the movie that really blew me away were the special effects. I loved the whole tattoos coming to life. I was pleased with the movie, and I think the critics are wrong with this one (but that's just me). Although anyone looking for Ben Affleck or Colin Farrell in the movie will be disappointed.

I think you'll like it. And as for all the negative reviews, Elektra is reminding me a bit of Christmas with the Kranks. They both have about the same rating on RT, yet audiences saw differently. I know the crowd I saw Elektra with absolutely loved it (some people even clapped, which has NEVER happened before).

Elektra isn't a bad movie, but it isn't quite good either. There were too many plotholes, the action sequences featured too much CGI and were chopped up so you almost had no idea what was going on, and the movie was too short for it's own good (85 minutes without credits). The reason why I say that it being too short is a bad thing is because if they had extended it by 15 minutes or so, they could've used that time to clear up some things about her past.
On the plus side, Jennifer Garner is very easy on the eyes.

I was pretty lukewarm on Elektra. The inlcusion of the semi-bratty 13 year old girl was a horrible misstep. The movie would have worked so much better without her.
The plot left a little to be desired as there were several loose ends that were never tied up, and a handful of characters that really served little to no purpose. There were a few moments when the movie started to click (most of the action sequences), but it was usually followed up by a scene that brought the movie to a screeching halt (anytime the 13 year old was on screen).
I thought Jennifer Garner did a good job with what she had to work with. I would have liked it if they would have written her character to be a tab bit lighter, but this was of no fault to Garner. I'd think that if you were a Jennifer Garner fan you'd find the movie at least semi-watchable.
I went to the movie with 3 others, 2 of them not being Garner fans. They thought the movie blew chunks and in their words it was "painful" to sit through. The 2 (myself included) that were Garner fans thought it was mildly enjoyable with a lot of flaws. So, I'd advise skipping it if you don't care for Garner.
I give Elektra a 5.5 out of 10

Can't wait for this one, unfortunately for various reasons, Fox had to push Elektra back to the 21st here in the UK, meaning next friday or saturday [i like to take a cooling off peroid before i review] you will have my nf7 review , which if its an A+ you can all point and laugh at whilst i try in vain to defend my honour
You know whats kind of wierd? The critical slaughter has benefited elektra in some wierd way. People go in determined to prove critics wrong, and when Elektra turns out OK for them, they slam the critics and say its better than the reviews let on.

A major dissapointment, and one of the worst films of the year.

Someone thinks highly of themselves
All i was saying is that when someone asks me if gigli is awful after they know ive seen it, and i say, no its actually really good, thats in effect making it more likely for the other person to see it [although Gigli is awful. Please dont go] its just fluff logic. But seriously...calm down.
Too bad you were dissapointed Zingaling, i personally hope that Elektra isnt as bad as Daredevil since i really didn't enjoy Daredevil apart from when Jennifer was onscreen. But the film was kind of fun at times, and the corny dialogue sometimes added to the entertainment value. Yet the whole opening sequence was just terrible and the films first half dragged on and on and on.

I'm very calm, you just seem to be rather distresed that the movie you've been pimping constantly is getting rather disasterous results \:D/

I saw the movie today and you may think that Im really biased against Elektra because of my post against the movie ( I did tone down on some of those posts  )
While the movie isnt as bad as Catwoman or Howard the Duck, it was very underwhelming. Just like Tony Montana mentioned, I find the 13 year old kid very annoying and I also find the fight scenes sloppy. Heres an example of the fight scenes, it has each henchmen winning against Elektra without her getting any shots against them but then Elektra just TKO's them out of nowhere. A good choeregraphed fighting should be about balancing out a fight between two individuals like in the Kill Bill and Hero fight scenes, the fights are very one sides in Elektra. As far as unintentional humor, I cant help but think about Bloodsport when Elektra makes some flashback to her sensai, heck the sensai even speaks with a slight Mr Miyagi accent despite being white too  . I also found it very humorous that the japanese ring leader looks like Keanu Reeves and when he said "It ends hear now", I was about to laugh since his voices sounds exactly like Keanu Reeves in the Matrix. And what is up with all the baddies turning into hydrogen gas when they die!!! Why does Elektra seem alot more reserved and silent compared to when she was in Daredevil.
I kind of expected the movie to be bad and my final grade for the movie would be a D+

I walked into Elektra for about the last 20 minutes. I figured that I would see some great action / fight scenes and then some other time, I could see the whole movie again cause I wasn't expecting enough that I needed to see it without surprises.
I can't believe how bad the ending fight scene was. Spoiler. I saw one thing she was good at running - trying to run away from the trouble and then running back to it.
Anyway, Elektra is fighting one bad guy - getting her ass kicked, then on the ground she stabs him with her first shot in the fight. Then she stands up and throws the knife through the forest area and then kills the mystical bad lady who almost killed Elektra earlier.
So Elektra was getting killed in the fight, gets 2 lucky things in about 3 seconds and kills both bad guys.

I'll refrain from yelling at Algren about his constant bashing of Garner and Elektra sicne it's already been done several times before. Anyways, I was excited to see this movie, but after seeing some reviews, I felt I was in for a HUGE disapointement. So I went in expecting the worst, and I was a little surprised. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would end up, but it wasn't the best either. It's just getting a really bad rap. The fight scenes were amazing though. C+ around.

Way back when I was in high school we had this really geeky kid in our class, Steve, that loved to trash the hotter girls in school. It was the funniest thing I'd ever seen in my life because the kid was so sincere about it. I think it made him feel better about himself to trash people way out of his league, which was just about everybody as Steve looked like the classic geek (coke bottle glasses, hairstyle that went out in the 50's, etc...).
Now I have no idea what Algren or his "girlfriend" (if there is one) looks like, but I'm sure a classy guy that has the time to post 50 posts a day on a message board is incredibly good looking with a girlfriend hotter than Jennifer Garner. Either that or I suddenly just went back to high school and am talking to that geek again. My money is on the latter of the two...
