 Finding Neverland
Finding Neverland Quote: Finding Neverland is a 2004 semi-biographical film about playwright J. M. Barrie, directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay by David Magee is based on the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee. The film was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Depp's portrayal of J.M. Barrie, and won one for Jan A. P. Kaczmarek's musical score.

I saw this a week ago. I was suppossed to see it for a big newspaper article on the Oscars and a friend of mine was suppossed to write the review, but she already had an article on the same page (and, our rules won't allow two articles by the same author on the same page). So, we ended up doing a split job. The deadline was actually Monday night, so we had roughly an hour to crack a 250-300 word review out. I think it turned out decently.
EDIT: Deleted the review. If you want to see it, PM me. Sorry!
NOTE: We both loved it. But, please, try to refrain from thinking of Michael Jackson while watching it. Depp does have a little fetish for the boys in this film, and, with a name like "Finding Neverland", it can't help but remind you of Mr. Jackson.

Hmm, posted a review elsewhere. I will find it later. The film was very good, though. One of the year's best. A-/B+

I was slow getting into the movie, but after I did, it's a magical ride. Freddie Highmore gave the best performance as Peder, while Johnny Depp's subtle performance may be harder to appreciate but nonetheless tremendous. The story is very touching, and I had tears in my eyes toward the end. A-.

No. lol! Forget it. It was a really, really stellar movie. At this point, I can say it deserves an A- for being pretty damn good. I loved the performances (the only reason it isn't an A+ is because the begining is a little bit too slow. I still enjoyed it immensly)

I was really deeply moved by this movie. How Forster played the story out totally got me. And it probably helped that you had such a stellar all-around cast. Johnny Depp was amazing and Freddie Highmore put on one of the best child performances in recent memory. Another great element was the editing and the cinematography. How Forster combined the realistic and the fantasy sequences (for example the dancing bear) was just awesome. (A-)

Oh man, this is what kills me. Movies where at first when I walk out I like them a lot, but the more I analyze them the worse my opinion gets. That and the film being rather over-rated only helps. When I walked out I'd have said B+, now I'm thinking about B-. It was entertaining, but too bland and safe for my tastes.

This movie blew me away. The entire cast give incredible performances and the kids are just outstanding. I've never been so close to crying in a movie in my life. Definitly an A

Very good, but terribly overrated. In no way does it deserve to be nominated for a boatload of Oscars, but...whatever. Johnny Depp is quietly impressive, Kate Winslet is somewhat heartbreaking and Freddie Highmore is terrific. However, this is one of those movies that is so sugary sweet and so obviously designed to make you tear up that I was a bit disgruntled. B+/B

I agree completely, except I would say A- instead of a B. I just don't see why this movie is getting all this accalim.

A beautiful film. Johnny Depp is great in the movie, not worthy of an Oscar nomination but I don't mind. Winslet and Highmore also gave fine performances.

Wonderful movie. It was a bit slow at the beginning but that didn't bothered me. I loved Depp's and Winslet's performances here. The children actors were very good too. A/A-
