 In the Loop
In the Loop Quote: In the Loop is a 2009 British black comedy satire film directed by Armando Iannucci. It is based on the BBC Television series The Thick of It satirising Anglo-American politics in the 21st century and the Invasion of Iraq. The film was nominated for the 2010 Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay).
In the film, the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are looking to launch a war in the Middle East. The plot follows government officials and advisors in their behind-the-scenes efforts either to promote the war or prevent it. It stars Tom Hollander, Mimi Kennedy, James Gandolfini, Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi, Anna Chlumsky, Gina McKee, Steve Coogan and David Rasche. The film is a collaboration between BBC Films and the UK Film Council.
Filming took place between May 2008 and December 2008, and a world premiere was held at the Sundance Film Festival on 22 January 2009. The European gala premiere screening was held in the independent Glasgow Film Theatre as the opening of the 2009 Glasgow Film Festival on 12 February 2009, attended by Iannucci and members of the cast. The film was released on 17 April 2009 in the United Kingdom.

 Re: In the Loop
The best comedy of the year for me so far. But its not funny in a light hearted way, its so caustic and harsh it would likely burn through Titanium. The dialogue is sharp and It was great to see an adult Anna Clumsky as well. Oh and if the inner world of politics is really like this then I'll run screaming from the next politican I see, terrifying.

I have it sitting here on a tape. My friend recorded if off On-Demand. He, like you, Gulli, thought the film was terrific.
Just gotta get around to it...

 Re: In the Loop
a very funny, very smart political satire. A bunch of great performances by mostly unknown actors keep things fresh, even though the edginess of the humor starts to wear off towards the end. One of the year's stronger comedies, for sure.

 Re: In the Loop
It's very funny, but it looks and feels like television. Which raises the question: why adapt/expand upon "The Thick of It" in the first place?

 Re: In the Loop
Definitely one of the funniest movies of the last few years; it's almost like the anti-West Wing in its tone and sense of humour.

 Re: In the Loop
Really, really funny. Its nice to see a movie this funny that doesn't follow typical comedic standards. I loved how Zach Woods played the opposite of his character on The Office and was such a douchebag here.
"Turn that fucking racket off! It's just VOWELS! Subsidised... foreign... fucking... vowels!"
"Well, Karen, unofficially, we can call anything whatever we want. I mean, unofficially, this is a shoe, but it's not, Karen, it is a glass of water. And this is the Future Planning Committee." "Well, unofficially, this appears to be bullshit."
"Y'know, I've come across a lot of psychos, but none as fucking boring as you. You are a real boring fuck. Sorry, sorry, I know you disapprove of swearing so I'll sort that out. You are a boring F, star, star, CUNT!"
"I can't stand to see a woman bleed from the mouth. It reminds me of that Country & Western music which I cannot abide."
