Another great one:
Carol: "OK, we all have these terrible stories to get over, and you..."
Melvin: "It's not true. Some have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good."

It's been too long since I voiced my love.
Is there a single scene in this movie that isn't memorable for one reason or another?

God I couldn't stand all the main characters in this film, they were each so insufferable in their own unique way. This movie was near unwatchably bad. Kinnear and Hunt are such untalented actors as well, though Kinnear has improved a little since then.

I'd love to see a Mel Brooks version.

A good, good movie. I remember a few years back. My wife and I were getting ready to go out dinner. I was done early so I flipped the TV on and landed on this movie about 1/3 of the way in. I watch maybe half an hour of it and it was time to go. It hooked me in. The second we were done eating I shot right up to Best Buys to pick it up..... A solid B+

I watched it a second time last summer, and it honestly wasn't quite as classic as I remembered it being. It's a little... too polished.
But I still like it!

A-/B+
Very good and witty romcom, excellent screenplay and acting... Not much more I can say, heh. I felt the first half of the film was stronger than the second though, once the trip starts it maybe goes into B+/B territory for me, some of it just felt... awkward. High quality comedy though.

Re: As Good As It Gets
The first half of the movie is brilliant and second half relies too much on actors but overall this is a great romcom and it gets better with every viewing. It does stumble a little in building relationships or making transformations but overall its a great watch specially because the two leads are great in this.
