Same grade as you after the first viewing. Liked it, didn't love it. It improved a bit. Not a masterpiece still, but a very good movie. Great imagery, atmosphere-setting and the way things unfold are quite interesting. DiCaprio was on fire.

I really enjoyed it. The twist was pretty obvious but the whole story with all the twists and turns and throw backs to old school films just was great to watch. Ruffalo was the only downfall to the film. He was awful but I haven't liked him in a single film so that's probably just me.

B+

A finely crafted but ultimately dull supernatural thriller with a twist that's as predictable as they come. I spent the whole movie just waiting for it to get there.

6/10 (C+)

But there's nothing supernatural there...

Lucid dreams/hallucinations. There's nothing supernatural about it.

Alright, so maybe it's not supernatural. But it's easy to compare them because, for me, it's just as dull as a supernatural-themed movie.

But it's pretty dull. Badly edited, stupid music choice, the throwback shit got annoying, and the acting was just blah. Also, for a suspense/thriller, IT HAD NO SUSPENSE OR THRILLS! It was just people talking, but not like Hannibal Lecter talking. Just people talking. Boring as fuck.

Though...despite all of that, it did manage to keep my engaged through it somehow. So I guess some of it worked. But it's still pretty bad.

Fail.

I really liked this the first time I saw. I thought Leo and the supporting did a great job and the music choices made the movie suspenseful. Watching it again after knowing was a completely different experience. I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous it is. You could actually switch some of the music, take out the flashbacks, and you'd have a damn good comedy.

Spoiler: show
Shenanigans ensue when a crazy guy is allowed to live out his Detective fantasy. You wouldn't see that?

Fail.

How so?? It's his opinion.. If he didn't dig it, so what??? Sometimes I wonder if many of you have a follow the leader mentality when it comes to saying you love a certain movie, whether it has an actor or actress everyone loves in it or a Director everyone seems to love as well.. It's like heaven forbid if someone doesn't like the "Popular" movie cause of Scorcese or Nolan Directing it.. :-k

What is this spelling out for us plot points?

I've never ever understood it every time it's been said by someone for any movie.

didn't c this until after Inception and Black Swan, so compares unfavorably to those with the weaker execution. B-

It's not very good. I enjoyed the story and the almost sirk-esque sureal colors and cinematography at random poorly times intervals on my first watch. It was engaging and fun, albeit far from a master-work. However as time passes my opinion fades some, most of what magnus gripes about is completely correct.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.
