It's as good a site as any. It's well-run and mostly reliable. And the out-of-focus problem was present on the big screen as well, so it was clearly a cinematography error/"artistic decision" preserved on the Blu-ray.

I didn't say Blu-ray.com was an official site. I said I was quoting their "official" review by one of their critics, as opposed to a user review on the site.
So, Lubitsch, just out of curiousity: you a big fan of Marcus Nispel or just being argumentative for the sake of it?

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Sherlock Holmes
I finally watched this today at work from a friend and I was impressed. I thought the story was interesting, the characters involving and the acting excellent. I liked the portrayal of Holmes by RDJ. This certainly isn't the old view one has of him and that's what helps make this fresh. Plus, the RDJ touches he gives the character really enhance the film and the performance. Jude Law was great as his sidekick even though he was more than just a sidekick. I liked Rachel McAdams in her role too. The guy who played the villain did good too. I liked how the set up Moriarty and I'm certainly interested in seeing this continue. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack with this film. It really compliments the film well. Overall, I thought it was a very good film and I wish I had seen it in theatres. I really need to rent or maybe buy this so I can watch it on my tv and not in a tiny window on my work computer.

 Re: Sherlock Holmes
Finally saw this one today.
Though at times it seems as though RDJ is simply doing hid best Jack Sparrow impression, he does an excellent job as Holmes. Law is good as always, and McAdams was ok considering she was miscast. Very enjoyable, entertaining movie. Downey is hilarious and needs to do more comedies. I want to watch it again.

 Re: Sherlock Holmes
I finally caught this on DVD and wish I'd seen it in the theater. Most entertaining film of 2009, with another great score by Zimmer and great production design and all that craft and style stuff.
Yes they made him a little too much of an action hero but that was excusable for two reasons. Updating a 100 year old British detective in a major movie is a big financial risk and they had to do what they could to make him more appealing to today's market. And in any case Sherlock was supposed to have been a former boxer and known some martial arts when he was younger so it was in the end no more unrealistic than those older movies that just make him all cerebral and not tough at all.
Some say he was too much like Depp's Sparrow but I didn't see that. To me he was edging too close to Batman with his leap at the end and his voice in the fog. He even had a kind of utility belt.
Can't wait for the sequel. I hope they choose someone who can act well for Moriarty and not just a big star.
