I was very disappointed by this film. I expected so much from it, too much I guess. I waited a long time for it to be released and when it finally was I couldn't believe how much I disliked it. I take some of the blame because I doubt that any film could have lived up to what I'd been expecting.

Okay, so me and my friend watched Saw yesterday (he is a manager at Blockbuster and gets to rent the movies before they come out officially) and, while not hating as much as some, found it to be pretty bad.
There have been a few people here who gave the plot holes a lot of coverage, so i won't talk about every single one, but there were a few that i found amazingly ridiculous:

The whole scene where Tapp and Sing go to the warehouse. They don't bring anyone else along, that is stupid but no where near the dumbest thing they do. They get to the warehouse, find that it is Jigsaw's lair, he is coming up in the elevator so they hide. I am fine with that, as they want him to get out so they have a clear shot at him so he can't get away. Then Jigsaw gets out of the elevator, and the cops give him enough time to get over to the helpless victim as opposed to coming out before Jigsaw was standing right next to the helpless guy. So of course Jigsaw flips a switch to make a couple of drills start going near the vic's head. Sing decides to try and turn it off, while me and my friend are both just sitting there going "Shoot the drills". Tapp then makes Jigsaw get on his knees and put his hands, which are both basically hidden in his stylish robe, on his head. Tapp doesn't even try to take Jigsaw's hood off, as i guess it is unimportant, i mean, he is as good as had, right? Then Jigsaw has some kind of blade come out of his robe (that alone was ridiculous, i mean, COME ON) and slashes Tapp's throat, but not enough to kill him i guess. Then Sing goes after Jigsaw and shoots him in the back with a shotgun, but Jigsaw gets up and runs off while Sing walks into a trap (believe it or not!) and he gets killed. Even if Jigsaw were wearing a bullet-proof vest, they aren't exactly the most bullet-proof in the back, so that should have killed him or at least incapacitated him for longer than 2 seconds.
Then, when Larry's wife gets the gun from Zepp she decides to NOT shoot him but instead do nothing. I get that maybe she wanted him alive to find her husband, but she still could have shot him in the leg, the arm, the shoulder, or all of the above.

I think that thing that i find the most ridiculous is the fact that Jigsaw was able to stay in the middle of that room motionless for hours and hours. Jigsaw couldn't make it through recording Larry and Adam's tapes without coughing because of his terminal disease, but he managed to not cough or anything for that long? Also, how in the hell did he shock Adam and Larry? In one hand was a gun, in the other a tape recorder, so what was he pushing the zap putton with, his dick?
Jigsaw was a terminally-ill guy yet managed to do more than the fully healthy people around him for months and months.
I can go on and on but i won't, as these were the big problems i had with the movie. (Aside from all the other problems that people have listed here before me).

it was good, and had some genuinely disturbing moments, but it just seemed to be missing something.

Ditto. I liked it and I can see why all you guys loved it but I didn't. It was a very entertaining movie but the performances... I mean at times the 2 leads were good, had their moments... Haha, who am I kidding they were horrible. I don't think this is something I would watch more than once though so I'll pass on the DVD.

My only complaint about this movie. But this is a thing I ask myself in soooo many movies.

It was compelling while watching it for the most part but was hugely flawed for a number of reasons. 1. How fuckin old is the whole "genius serial killer" schtick? Am I the only one sick of all these mastermind killers? C'mon, 99% of serial killers are raving lunatics that can't say an entire sentence without spitting. And this guy was such an endlessly pretensious one, but the film paints him out to be this prophet, it bordered on them glorifying that shit. And why wouldn't the cops have just shot Jigsaw when they got the chance? Trust me, from where I've lived, I know how it goes, and if some deranged asshole presses a button that'll kill someone in a matter of seconds and just rants about philosophical nonsense that would make The Architect shake his head at, you shoot him, not just let him stand there. C'mon Danny, he doesn't even have "diplomatic immunity"! ;) The pacing was very tight, and I was consistently entertained, though a lot of the acting was sketchy at best. The supporting cast was all good, though I wish I could've seen more of Danny Glover, he's the man! Cary Elwes started off half decent, but towards the end he sounded more and more like Ron Burgundy up until he started screaming more then the lead guitarist for the music video on the special features (I think they were called BloodKiss, or something else gothically ironic). Then there's that other guy in the room... well he definitely had a case of the over-acting bug. 'Nuff said there. Overall, I'd give it a B- as a very entertaining mess.

It had flaws, but i think the good parts overcome the flaws.

The thing is, serial killers who aren't geniuses usually get caught very quickly, which does not make for a good movie.

Ain't that the truth. And, the dumb serial killers are usually saved for episodes of "Law and Order" or "CSI".

Yeah, but that still hardly justifies having all these movies based off of such a small percentage of an already limited group of people.

Good suspense thriller. I wouldn't really consider it horror cause it didn't scare me that much. It was a little slow in a few parts, but then the pace quickened. And the ending was brilliant.

Very good movie. Sure there are plot holes like in a swiss cheese. But its a movie so I can live with it.
The Blood etc is not that bad. I was most scared when the little girl was alone in the room \:D/

I give 8/10

The end is very nice. Some freak movie feeling.

Haha, wow, I can see how someone would say it was tense or interesting, but the acting was TERRRIBLE by Cary Elwes and the screenwriter. Over-acting does NOT equal good acting. When I saw it a second time with my friends, I was laughing hysterically at Cary Elwe's having a coniption fit and just chopping off his leg just like that.
