Really enjoyed this one for some reason. It's not scary at all, but it's very entertaining and fast-paced. I really liked the characters and it was fun seeing a slasher film on the big screen again (despite this being a watered-down one). With the torture-porn fad dying down, I hope the slasher film (my personal favorite kind of horror film) can stage a comeback. Brittany Snow was quite good, as was Dana Davis. I'd recommend it. B

You're the reason movies in America are turning into shit.

I'd certainly rather watch this than most of the horrible horror films released as of late (Hostel: Part II, Saw IV, Captivity, etc.)

Is it a great horror film? Absolutely not. But looking it purely in terms of entertainment value (and the fact that it's essentially a teen flick), I had fun.

Because you're wimpy :hahaha:

Nah, I've just been sorely, sorely disappointed in the crop of horror films that have been released lately. I used to be a huge fan of the genre and last year over half of my bottom ten was comprised of horror films. Thankfully things seem to be turning around, as evidenced by last week's The Ruins.

The Ruins was sooooooo much better than this crap it's not even funny. To even give this a B is laughable.

It was much better. I'm not denying that. But I thought this one was fun as well. We're all entitled to a guilty pleasure every once in a while.

Except this didn't have ingredients of a guilty pleasure horror movie like lots of gore and/or copious nudity

2/10 -> F

Oh my. This was painful to watch. The great part of fun for me in most slasher movies where a human is a killer is not knowing his identity. Here they show you the guy's face in the opening. Then I thought - oh goodie, they must have some imaginative murder scenes to compensate the mystery part. But no - they went for completely clichéd killings. They even have "the girl gets lost in a part of the hotel that's being renovated where the killers gets her" scene.

The whole movie is incredibly stupid, pointless, people can apparently transport themselves everywhere they wish to, unless the killer is after them, then they by the power of magnetic force always go directly to him.

Even if you went in expecting a stupid and awful film I can hardly see how even by the lowest of the lowest standards this movie managed to pass as a good entertainment.

The only things that prevent me from giving this F is Scott Porter and the fact that I liked Brittany Snow. Plus, Kelly Blatz was pretty hot.
Everything else is awful. There's no excitement or thrill featured in this movie at all.

As average as they can get. It's not as terrible as I thought it would be, but it's not really good either. I like the idea of a slasher that relies on suspense and not gore (Like the amazing Halloween or Black Christmas) but this was just a lazy, let's bring teenage girls to the theaters to annoy people, excuse. Brittany Snow is decent enough, but the screenplay and moronic direction ruin any of the good stuff in her. The rest of the cast is completely forgettable, except maybe for Dana Davis and Christina Applegate's husband. If the movie gets one thing right is the melancholic feeling of such events as proms and that's about it. Oh, and I liked the cover of "Time of the Season". I'd rather watch the original a million times, very underrated little slasher these days.

5/10 (C)

It's a dismissable, but mildy entertaining "horror" movie that is on par with the remake of The Fog, but ahead of, say, Black Christmas. Brittany Snow and Scott Porter bothdeliver decent performances considering the genre. It really bothered me, though that this was PG-13 mainly because you can clearly see them cutting away from all potential bloody scenes and considering how many killings there were in the film that gets very annoying after some time.

There's little suspense, however, but a couple of laughs. I liked the films setting, but was disappointed that it all later shifted to Donna's house. Speaking of that: What the freaking hell was up with that dream sequence?! This movie is not supernatural, so what's the deal?! Anyway, the movie's disaposable, as are the victims here which I never felt anything for. The final showdown is really as anti-climatic as it can get (seriously, WTF?). Usually in a film like this the heroine gets to get back at the villain, but here there's none of that, she's just a simple damsel in disatress from the beginningtill the very end.

It's still entertaining in parts and unlike The Fog I wasn't bored. I know I shouldn't be giving it slack, but somehow I just didn't wind up hating it, maybe because I went in expecting the worst anyway.

I thought Black Christmas was better. At least it didn't chicken out with a PG-13 rating. It was really gory and had a better cast.

Its predecessor was pretty good, though and everything that the predecessor got right, the remake got wrong. Not speak of some truly ridiculous stuff and insanely annoying and stupid characters.

Had Prom Night gone for an R-rating, it could've been B-territory for me.
