I liked it just as much as the first one. Maybe a little more. The villains were better in the first one, but the adventure was better here.

Post Re: National Treasure: Book of Secrets
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Yes the plot's preposterous, and yes I rolled my eyes at a lot of it, but I was never bored. Most of the time, I was even pretty damn well entertained.

It's rare I find myself this at odds with the general consensus on a film. For example, most people thought the London car chase was boring, I thought it was one of the most thrilling I'd seen in ages. Maybe my opinion of the film will change on multiple viewiings, but right now it's the most fun I've had in a cinema in some time.

C'est la vie.

Where the heck was the plod thou??? Seriously shoddy on their part :disgust:

I'm with you on how much this film surprised me thou. Its nothing special but the time pasts quickly and I got a kick out of some of the silly clues and puzzles, plus Helen Mirren looks indecently good for a woman of her age.

I'm not really a fan of Mirren. If I could change one thing about the film, it'd be to completely cut her and Jon Voight's reconciliation plot-line from the film. Felt goofy and forced.

I think my personal favourite moment in the whole film has to be when Cage is reading the President's book and comes across Coolidge's writing. He announces it as though what we're about to see is going to be the most profound thing we'll ever hear. I mean, it's President Coolidge! And these words have never been seen by anyone except the President of the United States!

There's nothing deep or meaningful about it, and it somehow manages to make Dan Brown novels seem layered and profound, but it's entertaining nonetheless. It basically skims off the top of American history, and there's only a whisper of a story present, but it's fun. It never takes itself seriously, and, though there's little sense or subtlety to be found, it works well as pure popcorn. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's memorable or even "good", per se, but there's certainly worse films to be caught watching. Almost instantly forgettable, though.

Didn't enjoy it as well as the original. It's not bad, just...decent.

I cant believe i blind bought this thinking it'd actually somehow be good.
It was so mediocre it kind of hurt.
Hammy, rushed script, predictable plot and not much fun or sense of excitement that was omnipresent in the first movie. I didn't enjoy what they reduced Justin Bartha to, i thought Diane Kruger acted circles around Nicholas Cage and wondered what the fuck Helen Mirren was even doing in this movie.

I like this better than the first, even if it hits a few of the same plot beats. I liked all the characters more the second time around and the production values are top notch. A shame there never was a sequel
