Knocked up is a very good comedy. What else can I say?

Oh yeah, this. Paul Rudd is a comedic genius and I want him to be in as many comedies as possible.

It's no 40 year old virgin, though. (which could have something to do with being able to relate to being a 40 year old virgin (me in 16 years) more than I could with getting someone pregnant (which I've only done 3 or 4 times. Miraculous, aint it?).)

Wow, I guess I'm the one to break the trend...

I was quite disappointed. I guess I didn't especially like Virgin when I first saw it, but it's grown on me, and I like it a lot more now. So I had high hopes for this one. And it didn't reach them. It was funny, sure, but not nearly as much as I thought it would be. There were a lot of awkward moments, where I wasn't sure if I should laugh or not; it seemed really mean-spirited at times. It was also far too long. A big chunk of it could have been shaved off and it would have helped greatly. There are a fair share of laugh-out-loud moments, and certainly some memorable characters, but there's far too much going on in this movie at once. There's the main pregnancy, but then there's Ben's stoner friends, Alison's job, the other married couple and their problems, Ben and Pete's friendship, etc. A lot of it just distracted from the main story. And the crowning scene - what the hell? Totally out of nowhere. I laughed a lot, but also felt uneasy a lot of the time. The acting is good, and it's competently made, but it's all over the place a lot of the time. Pretty disappointing.

I will say this: I loved, loved, loved the deadpan girl at Alison's work who really hated her. Probably my favourite character in the movie. Just nailed every line.

This movie was hilarious! The best movie of 2007 and the funniest movie I have seen in a while. A+

And I don't think it's going to go down Libs. I guess I feel sorry for those who didn't enjoy it. The film is just funny, poignant and mature all at the same time and will definitely stand teh test of time.

It was being abused and got taken away for consoling.

But every big film gets Fs by some bozos.

If it's taken away from this film, it should be taken away from all the others. Else, it should stand. This screws up the film's standing vs. other films.

I'd tend to agree. Indeed Arsi may hate me for this but his stance is a tad hypocritical considering what happened with the F's in the Brokeback review thread.

There's some douchebag on the Knocked Up board at IMDB who is attacking people for liking it, calling it "trash," saying it's just as bad (if not worse) than Epic Movie and Date Movie.

Then there's other people who claim the movie is extreme right-wing propaganda because it "supports not having an abortion."

Remind me to stay away from the IMDB boards...

That sort of barmy argument was a guarantee.

the brokeback thread has those F's and i haven't done anything to them because i haven't seen the film so i haven't graded it so i haven't entered it.

my issue is with isolated Fs without reasoning. this goes for isolated As without reasoning either.

having said that, i never asked for the F grade to be removed, but for the F vote to be removed if someone doesn't own up to it.

I didnt remove anything

Paul is so hot.

Do I need to post thoughts? I mean, c'mon... it's charming and funny. It's successful - and better than Virgin.

B+

No way man -- that's crazy talk! C'mon, use some common sense!!!

All we gotta do, is change our rating scale to go from G ---> K... that way we'll eliminate the risk of F's altogether!!!!!

(...oh... and we're gonna need some frickin' sharks with laser beams to patrol these forums to prevent any future unthought-of-yet vandalisms...)

a) Saw the trailer. Wasn't impressed back then. Just like Crash, the film has been so hyped up that I don't think I'm in any position to grade it without a bias.

b) After watching the trailers, and reading comments, Beneath everything, the film looks nothing more than your average run of the mill Indian Bollywood film that comes out every week from the country, cept that instead of a straight relationship, we have two men inthe same sort of predicament.

And I'm sick and tired of watching the same story over and over again.

LOL! I think it's hysterical you won't see Brokeback Mountain but you're creaming your pants over the shitty looking Transformers movie.

Anyway, I've been whoring this movie a lot today in school. Everyone that has seen it loved it, except for one person who said it was "disgusting, stupid and boring." But one of her favorite movies is The Marine, so I wouldn't trust her. ;)

i've seen a million brokeback mountainish films. I've never seen a film full of robots tranforming into stuff and kicking each other's ass.
