 Re: The Dark Knight Rises
B&R was so bad, that I remember as a kid that I found it pretty shitty. I was 12 at the time, and I remember getting out of the theater really disappointed. The next day I re-watched Forever and it was so much better. And yet I was exactly the target audience for B&R.

 Re: The Dark Knight Rises
"That trailer is mildly funny, but really, name me one big blockbuster you couldn't do a sarcastic trailer like this?"
Well compare it to the one for TDK or even TA...
They ripped the film apart really...
The film is actually really good in certain scenes.. I would compare to it to ROTJ...
It has some of the best scenes but certain parts ruin the film and certain plot points are just?

 Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Maybe I'm a little late to the list party, but here's mine...
1. The Dark Knight - A+ 2. Batman Begins - A+ 3. Batman - A 4. The Dark Knight Rises - A- 5. Batman Forever - B 6. Batman Returns - C+ 7. Batman and Robin - C
I actually find Batman and Robin to be a great horrible film. Thus warranting a C in that I love it for how bad it is.

That all depends on which Batman you prefer. I believe that a man that dresses up in bondage lycra and wears a bat costume by night is a pretty silly thing, and Batman Forever parallels that idiocy in its theme, which is why it will always be better than Nolan's trilogy. The Dark Knight attempts to make it serious, and in my opinion, it fails. People have just been fooled that Batman is somehow not funny. Superheroes are for kids, and Batman Forever acknowledges that. The Dark Knight is like trying to turn The Muppets into a R-rated crime masterpiece, it's laughable.

A 60-year-old man boxing the world heavyweight champion to a draw is silly. I guess Rocky Balboa sucks.

The man retired at 48 and regained the title at 45. I've never heard of anyone being a superhero and fighting crime in lycra and a cape and building an underground cave and standing on top buildings without being noticed. It's the stuff of kids books, which is why adult comicbook geeks are looked on as weirdos.

 Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Great reply.
But I also didn't say The Dark Knight sucks. I just said that I prefer Batman Forever as it makes light of a silly story, the way it should be, whereas TDK tries to make it serious and believeable, when in truth, people do not run around in bat costumes trying to protect the city.

 Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Batman Forever is superior within its own camp, exciting, neon, playful space than The Dark Knight Rises is within its bid to be a modern myth with a social conscious. I cannot place my finger on it, but there is a key component absent deep within this film. The prestigious actors do their best. It is shot and scored as if it were the gravest and most important motion picture ever made. But still.

Therefore, Friday the 13th Part 2 is better than The Godfather Part III. That about right?

For another example, I prefer Dredd to Argo and Lincoln. It may not be as as prestigious and shining as them, but I still solidly prefer it as a film.
