^I say go for it. It's certainly not as flashy (or IMO enjoyable) as the other Tarantino flicks but it's an interesting change of pace from him.

A

Love it, never gets old. Although, I have Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs rated higher.

Sorry David...

A- and perhaps my least favorite of his, but like all Tarantino films, it takes a second look to appreciate, which I'm sure I will give later on down the road.

I think I might be the only one who thinks De Niro steals this movie, however, I will say, I don't think De Niro knows how to hit a bong.

If only this was on pps. I've wanted to re-attempt this for years.

Post Re: Jackie Brown
Pros-

The acting
The soundtrack
Ordell is effectively creepy (seriously, I had a nightmare with him last night)
The movie post-the heis is very thrilling
Tarantino's most mature film to date

Cons
Tarantino's more fun when he is immature
Man does the first half drag and drag, but not as bad as the Mr. Orange scenes in Reservoir Dogs
I felt like the principle theme of this flick was nostalgia, and I almost put this into the con section, but honestly, this theme could have been better executed.

I was expecting this to be QT's worst but after watching it I don't think it is. It isn't his best but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.

Max's deep, hesitant, revitalizing, ultimately stunted love for Jackie Brown is still the most honest and memorable emotion ever featured in a Tarantino film.

Magnus has a deep, hesitant, revitalizing, ultimately stunted love for David in the quirky romantic comedy, Canadian Bacon and Curry

I posed that very question in a thread recently.

I think she retired to raise her kids full time. She's married to Danny Elfman.

I still haven't seen this... Odd considering I am a huge Tarentino fan.

On the lower end of Tarantino's work, but still very entertaining.

Jackie Brown

It's an ok film, but it's Tarantino's worst for me. It's even worse than Kill Bill: Vol. 2. It's too wordy and takes forever to really get going. There's just little momentum, so it gives you lots of time to nod off or think about other things. The music is also not my style. These 70s ghetto tunes, while in keeping with the tone of the film, are just not my type of music at all, although they are used well ("Walking down 110th street" for example).

It's a fine sting concept, but all the characters seemed dull or uninteresting for me (besides Max). De Niro's character was boring as shit. Samuel L. Jackson tries very hard to out-do his Pulp Fiction performance and fails (although he does 'paranoia' better than anyone). The film is just far too long. It's as if Tarantino fell in love with his own screenplay. This is his nod to 70s Pam Grier movies, and I didn't even like those.

I just rewatched this and it's interesting how much I picked up on it after years of not seeing it. I totally forgot Robert Forster got an Oscar nom for this, well deserved. He gives a very pleasant and subtle performance.

Great set up. Tarantino knows how to craft a scene with dialogues.
