Sound a lot like Moby Dick meets jaws meets worst movie ever, I think your getting my consensus on that one. mariana trench is at the bottom of the ocean. few have ever been down there. no one would notice it. having said that though, i hope the story does biology justice. at that depth, the possibility of eyes n all evolving are next to non existant.
Well they do a fairly decent job with the biology in the book, although rather implossible.
The shark surfaces after feeding off a second shark that was in the trench, who blood warmed it as it surfaced. The second shark was caught in the wiring for one of the subs, hence it dieing.
The ending though, is just insanely bad. I won't spoil it here though.

Well, I'll wait on a trailer before I'm too biased, but we'll see how it goes, Im not hearing a lot of support even from those that have read the book.

I watched it today in my Literature through Film class in school for the first time in ten years, and it's a pretty amazing film. The score is, like, the best ever. Technically sound, and a brilliant piece of work.

I might have said that before, simply because the last time I saw it was when I was 7.

I can't imagine how anyone could not like Jaws. Personally, for whatever reason, I don't see it as a horror film. I know, technically, it is one, but to me, it's more...I don't know...adventure/thriller? I love it, though. Certainly my all-time Top 30.

Pretty much one of the best movies ever made. Films don't get much better than this. Perfect in almost every way. Technically flawless and emotionally thrilling.

One of Spielberg's earliest and for me his best. I never tire of watching it.
The great interplay between Scheinder Dreyfuss and Shaw lift's this into top 10 all time territory and the Shark section's show that you don't have to see a thing to feel the menace.
Cinematic Perfection
A+

Finally saw it yesterday for the first time. I wasn't as blown away as all of you are but it was very entertaining tough. The showdown was great. B+

Hey, baumer?
I have a question for you about Jaws. On the beach, in the background, there is a song playing on the radio. Can you tell me who that singer is?

I'm glad you got around to see it.. Nothing more satisfying than having visions of this movie flashing in yoiur head while your paddling out on a surfboard in Hawaii like I did.. Needless to say, I paddled my ass back closer to shore..

Believe it or not, I watch this film still about once every two months or so. I am such a loonie, I love this film so much. 31 years old and it still never gets old.

A really effective suspence/horror movie.
That scene when we finally see the shark is so riveting, and credit needs to be given to Spielberg for truly earning those kinds of moments. So many horror movies these days rely on cheap thrills...

 Re: Jaws
A+Both a brilliant terror film and among the most exciting adventure ones. The submerged scenes and deaths are just perfect, though the movie is riddled with great moments like some of the stuff on the boat, some of the lines, the three leads, everyone on the beach. It's one of those movies where absolutely every scene is used and is memorable, he wastes nothing. I also wanted to mention that the shark looks surprisingly great for '75, he and ET and the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park actually feel more realistic to me than 90% of the CGI substitutions today. Spielberg's best... by far. Maybe the only film from his repetoire that I've really really loved. ET too possibly, though I haven't seen that recent enough. It's a perfect movie. Steven finally did it for me.
