Like Zingy said, it could be because of Jimmy Fallon. I HATED him on "Saturday Night Live", and I thought he was great here, so that surely should tell you something.
I felt the same way that you guys did about Jimmy Fallon. I never liked him, and didn't consider him to be funny, or even all that likable. He was totally likable in Fever Pitch, and funny ,too. He was a pleasant surprise for me personally.

Aw, I didn't mind Fallon on SNL. He was overrated (Horatio Sanz and Will Ferrell were the funniest guys when he was on the show), but he didn't irritate me...
Anyways, 'twas soooo cute. Even though it didn't follow the book (great read, btw)...In case you didn't notice, the Farrely's are always better when the duo attempts something light with a positive, inoffensive message. A-

FEVER PITCH - 8/10 (A-)
Wow, this one definetely caught me by surprise. The leads were cast perfectly, Drew was great as always and Jimmy, who I normally don't like, was quite good and hilarious. I loved the ending, it was very heartwarming and funny. You knew exactly what would happen but it was still hilarious. This one really hit close to home (no pun intended) to me. I'm exactly like Jimmy's charactor and my exgirlfriend is exactly like Drew's charactor. FEVER PITCH is a must see for anyone who wants to enjoy a good, funny, heartwarming flick. Thanks so much for recommending it to me Spider-Man and Thompson!!

It just felt so ordinary. Like I've seen the movie many times before.

Yeah... As people have said, I guess you can use cute to describe this. Fallon and Barrymore make a good pair.

How do you hate Fallon in the film, and still find the duo to be a great couple? Their relationship is the entire movie!

Yeah, it's a cute movie and Fallon and Barrymore make a nice couple. However, I would have expected from the Farelly Brothers a funnier and witter movie, unlike this really standard romcom fare. It just lacks that "special something". I think I did laugh outloud once throughout the film and was amused through the rest, but the movie just never won me over. It had me simply shrugging most of the time. It is predictable like all romcoms, but it is also only mildly entertaining.

It was cute, but I didn't see anything that really made it exceptionally. Fever Pitch is, however, by far the best romcom to come out of Hollywood in a while. Barrymore was a delight as usual.
