A+
You just shocked the hell out of me.
I liked it, but an A+?
And you? I thought Zing, Lecter, me and maybe Bradley would give it the best grades.
A-/B+, 7.5/10
The mythology is the strength; it's somewhat weak as an action movie. The unrated version is much better as it goes into detail about some important plot points.

Pretty adept sci-fi action flick, with an okay mythology and some cool visuals. Though the backstory has some nice concepts, it does have a 'been there, done that' feel to it, and the main story is actually kinda weak. The acting, apart from Diesel, is pretty terrible, and even Vin isn't as charismatic as he was in Pitch Black. Judi Dench is completely wasted. It's solidly directed, though, and the effects are pretty good, save for a few anomalies (the tiger things in the prison). The action sequences are pretty well done, save for the 'running away from daylight', which is a stupid concept and has been done ad nauseaum before. Some of the visuals are stunning, especially the Necromongers attacking at the beginning. Great score, too.

Criminally overlooked piece of Cinema. Yes its a tad bloated and puffed up on pathos's that feels more at home in a goth nightclub but its a hugely enjoyable ride.
Diesel is even more front and centre which is fine by me because the moment he get into the character of Riddick he dominates every scene he's in, all gruff aggression mixed with a cynical edge Diesel will never play a character quite as good as this one again.

What a turd of a movie.

I refuse to believe either -- it is neither an A+ nor a turd -- but I'd still like to see the rest of the trilogy...

I liked this movie. Vin Diesel is actually a great action star.
