 Re: Midnight in Paris
Midnight in Paris is such a great film from Woody Allen. It has all his usual routine mixed in with a great journey to the past. This is Owen Wilson's best work to date I believe as he completely fits into his character well. Marion Cotillard and Rachel McAdams are fine supporting actresses as well in this. It is one of Woody's best recent works next to his 2009 adventure Whatever Works. Great film. ***1/2

 Re: Midnight in Paris
Very much enjoyed this. It fails from being excellent because of the one dimensional character Rachel plays and because the realization that Owen shouldn't live in the past comes too quickly and is accepted so suddenly. So an A minus instead of an A.

 Re: Midnight in Paris
The big flaw is Mcadam's character and the reslution the storyline was whatever.
The best parts is seeing the film back in the past seeing all the greats... Everyone was great in their small parts.
Hemingway was the best easily, would have liked to see more of Fitzgerald.
A very beautiful film B+
However the story lines in Allen past films were better.

Midnight in Paris
I just knew I would love this, and I've been wanting to watch it for about a year now. It's refreshingly amazing, the idea is very original, the dialogue is quirky and realistic (just like Woody's famous for), and the acting is natural and warm. Owen Wilson is at his very best, as is the instantly dislikeable Martin Sheen (I thought that subtle character rivalry was superb). There are some suprising choices from the brilliant Adrien Brody as Salvador Dali (my favourite artist) to Tom Hiddleston as Scott Fitzgerald who I'm really starting to like after seeing him in The Deep Blue Sea and now this. The sexy Lea Seydoux wows me again with her beauty, kind of a perfect role for her really as it's set in France. I must give a shout out to Carla Bruni, she did a fantastic job as the tour guide on Rodin's "The Thinker", which is my favourite piece of art/scultpure ever; this film is full of my favourites in high-culture which is probably also why I loved it so much, but I'm not taking away from how happy this movie made me. I had a smile on my face for the entire time.
I've always loved Woody Allen despite seeing only two of his films before, Bananas and Annie Hall. I've always loved his script-writing, and here it is no different. I really should watch more Allen.

 Re: Midnight in Paris
I wanted to watch it when it came out. Back in the UK, we have this lovely little art house cinema that I frequented, and they showed it for about a week, but it has Scarlet Johansson, and I kind of disliked her (dislike her even more now), so I decided not to go. If I see it online though, I will give it a chance.
