 Re: Jennifer's Body
I liked it quite a bit. I do love Diablo Cody. Juno was great. I loved her book and now this. I haven't watched United States of Tara. This movie was funny and had its great suspense/scary moments. J.K. Simmons 9/10

 Re: Jennifer's Body
I didn't write a review for it this week, but definitely did a podcast with the critic and my co-host. Definitely the best podcast so far. I think the podcast's work better with more than just two voices. http://nevadasagebrush.com/blog/2009/09 ... fers-body/

 Re: Jennifer's Body
Megan Fox at least made Diablo Cody's ridiculous dialogue sound natural, something that no one else, in either this or Juno (save for maybe J.K Simmons), has managed.

See, when you drag Juno into this you just sound wrong. Juno was in a marvel in many ways; first and foremost in the acting.

Juno is a beautiful brilliant wonderous film, and to say the dialogue in that film does not feel natural is to say that DMTH isn't scary. (In other words, you missed the point!)

We just hold celebrities in a higher standard. It reminds me of the episode of The Office where they were debating whether or not Hilary Swank was hot. And Seyfriend is very talented. I can see not thinking so if you don't watch Big Love, but she is great on that show. I also highly enjoyed her in Mamma Mia, which she was charming in.

Perhaps if Fox just walked past me on the street and never opened her mouth I could see some sense of aesthetic beauty. As an actress (if you can actually call her that) having to watch her on screen shatters any "prettiness" I may have otherwise perceived.

Seyfried wouldn't be attractive even if she weren't an actress. Bug eyes, weird face...yuck.

 Re: Jennifer's Body
I think, if she were just a regular girl you knew/worked with, you would have a crush on her . Plus, a good personality can go a long way for someone who isn't hideous, and she's not. So if you knew her and she had a good personality, you'd end up being attracted to her. Just think if she loved horror movies as much as you. I don't see how you could not be into this chick then.

I think I have crush on Amanda Seyfried thanks to this movie. I'd take her over Fox regardless.
Also? Dug the flick.

A-.
I loved this. I'm a fan of mean girls and teen horror, so what's for me not to love? The script is hilarious, and as someone said above, Amanda and Megan pull off Diablo Cody's dialogue better than anyone else. Both actresses are great in their roles and likeable (even though Jennifer's 'actually evil, not just high school evil").
Plenty of witty one liners, big laughs, some nice gore, a great soundtrack and great chemistry between the cast.

 Re: Jennifer's Body
5/10 -> C-
This movie had tons of potential, but it needed tons of more work. First of all the casting is awful. Besides Megan Fox (who only needed to look good and give a decent line delivery) everyone else was bad. I get that the acting was supposed to be cheesy, but for cheesy acting you do need good or even great actors (take True Blood for example). Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody just won't cut it.
Second of all: The direction. Ugh. I won't even start on that. Beheaded monkey would've probably done better.
And finally the writing. If anything had potential, then this was it. But Diablo Cody is awful in writing. Juno was awful, and even though United States of Tara became a pretty good little show by the end, the episodes that were written by Diablo Cody were by far the worst ones. I can give her credit for having good ideas, but she really needs a helping hand or at least a ghost writer to help her.
Even when she hits the gold mine (Do you have a tampon?) she kills it with subsequent rants (she harangues that sentence with how Needy looks like a person who stuffs them). She doesn't know if she sometimes needs to explain the jokes or what. She's too insecure.
This could've been great B-movie cheesy horror flick. But it's not.

 Re: Jennifer's Body
I liked it a lot more than Juno. Whereas in that film the characters and dialog are absolutely painfully unbelievable and that of robotic snark machines, I actually liked what Cody does with her people and wording here. This makes me believe the real problem behind Juno is Reitman and his inability to direct the actors.
Seyfried is terrific as always. I would've liked to see Megan Fox ham it up even more, but eh, she's passable enough. The real surprise though is Adam Brody as the satanic indie rocker. He's great!
It's a good little monster horror. Nothing to take too seriously, just enjoyable. The conclusion is refreshingly dark though
3.5/5
