I'm seeing this tonight. It was already my most anticipated of August but over the past few days, my anticipation has only been growing. I absolutely cannot wait.

 Re: Inglourious Basterds (2009)
I actually ended up enjoying this more than I thought, probably because there were several instances of absolutely brilliance performances. However, there are several scenes and actors that are so monumentally boring and bad, that they practically taint the entire film (shame on you, Chapter 3). If this had been edited more competently, it would be have been one of the best films of the year. As it stands, it's a bloated mess.

What happens when you take my favourite living writer/director and mix him with my favourite point in modern world history?
You get my favourite film of 2009.
I'd go as far as to say it could become my favourite film about WWII.

You have to love Tarentino for exposing the audience as hyprocrites. Suicide bombing nazis equals good and heroic. Other islamic people who do it are called terrorists. The basterds seems alot more brutal and violent than the nazis are. Even Col Hans Landa wasnt what you call a nazi since he played both sides

I was totally blown away! loved every second of it. I can understand the criticism about the editing, although I think every shot is very purposeful. The movie felt very American to me despite it taken place entirely in Europe. Not sure I could articulate why; it just did.
The crowd I saw it with applauded at the end so they agreed. A

No. I wouldn't call the basterds heroes though, certainly not, but comparing them to islamic suicide bombers (at least those who attack and brutally kill others for ideological differences) is a poor choice. A better comparison between the two would be right wing nutjobs who find brutally killing communists as heroic.

It's funny - The Jew Hunter Landa did mention that in passing, while interrogating Raine. He had a line that compared their act to terrorism. Coming from the turncoat Jew Hunter!

Or perhaps a left-wing nut job like Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, et al killing non-communists (or most people at that).

 Re: Inglourious Basterds (2009)
I fucking loved it.
It's Tarantino doing what he does best, but with Nazi's.
Fantastic performances. I third or fourth the notion that Waltz should be nominated for his outstanding performance. Anytime he entered a scene, it freaked me out. Brad Pitt was also great because he really enjoyed it. His "Italian accent" was absolutely hilarious. The film is as sick as one would expect, and wonderfully entertaining. Even in one of the slower acts like III, I still loved it. There's acts like the first which was basically all dialogue, yet incredibly tense. And the conclusion was AWESOME.
One of the best of the year, easily.

I'd go as far as to say it could become my favourite film about WWII. Favourite point in modern world history? First, you're a douche for writing favorite with a u. You live in America, Mohamed. Second, I don't know how WWII could be a "favorite" moment but.... Anyway, iId put this in B+/A- territory.

 Re: Inglourious Basterds (2009)
lol yeah, it's sorta true. I actually love any book or film related to the Holocaust and the WWII time period. I'm about to take an Intro to Euro II class this semester 'cause I love it (and I have to fill a history requirement; plus this time period is more interesting than Euro I, US I and US II).

Two of my uncles were in the SS, I have cousins who were RAF, my mum was born in 1940 in Nazi Germany, my family history is rich in WWII history, and two are tied together.
