BRIDE WARS - 7/10 ( B )

This was actually really enjoyable and cute. Better than the previous year's 27 DRESSES. It's predictable, harmless fun. I didn't expect to enjoy this so much with the WOM being bad, but it's really not that toxic.

And on a sidenote, Anne Hathaway is really beautiful.

My list of 2009 movies is woefully short (around 15), so against my better judgment I decided to suffer through Bride Wars just to pad out my stats (my wife picked it... really!). In the end, I'm happy I did, because I now have a movie to put down as the worst of 2009. And, I honestly don't see it being replaced there anytime soon... unless Bride Wars 2 is on the way before the end of the year.

BW is just horribly unlikeable from the characters to the story. The characters are shallow vapid idiots - if they died halfway through the movie, I would have probably enjoyed the movie a lot more. A complete stinker, and I can't think of anything good to say about it. Heck, it wasn't even so freakin' terrible as to be entertaining (Catwoman, Battelfield Earth)... it just sucked and was boring while sucking. Worst movie I have seen in at least a year. Grade: F

It's bad. You do get a few laughs, but there's seriously nothing good about it. It's not an outright disaster, but it's close.

It is weird when I like a movie like this more than Libs does, but hell I did. I know I probably shouldn't have, but I thought this was way more fun than it had any right to be. Of course the actual quality is not very good, but I just enjoyed seeing Hudson and Hathaway going at each other. The movie was meaner and more bitter than I expected it to be and the whole idea of Hathaway actually not ending up with the guy she was engaged to is rather refreshing.

On the other hand, as some have said, the movie is kinda insulting to women and is utterly ridiculous in most parts. But I enjoyed its dark side which is something you don't often see in movies like this one. Most just stay rather vanilla. It must be said that the leads are the ones elevating the film, especially Anne Hathaway (and she has rarely looked as good as she does in this one).

This is nothing I want to see again anytime soon and I am sure I'll forget it completely pretty fast, but for what it was, it was decent.
