 Re: Twilight (2008)
This is actually the first film I've liked her in. Usually I can't stand her and feel the same way you do - she's been quite awful in the past.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
I'm actually kind of baffled that people actually thought the acting was good. I thought it was HORRIBLE. Especially Robert Pattinson. The faces he kept making were just ridiculous. And I thought Kristin Stewart was terrible, too, but that also has a lot to do with the fact that she speaks in a monotone. All the other actors were underused as well; I really wanted to see more of Jacob, for one, especially since he's such a big part of all the other books, especially the next one. The Cullens were hardly used, too. I loved all the scenes in which Rosalie was in. I think Nikki Reed is beautiful, and her acting was probably the only acting that didn't drive me crazy. Something just seemed iffy to me with Alice, although I can't exactly put my finger on it, and Jasper had just terrible acting as well. The movie picked up somewhat from the baseball game on, but I wish more time would have been devoted to that instead of to the beginning of the movie where virtually nothing happens. I also didn't like how they handled Laurent, James, and Victoria killing the humans. I donno, I was really disappointed. The books are pretty cheesey themselves, and I think Stephenie Meyer takes, like, ten steps back when it comes womans rights, but I guess I expected a little more from the movie.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
Just a terrible episode. Every episode of "Buffy" has better acting, better dialogue and even better action than this crap.
One thing that sums this horrible movie up: They're saying they can only play baseball in thunderstorms. "You'll see why". And then there is no reason given why they can only do it this way. Movie Making at its worst.
Only good thing: Patsavas' music choices

Only good thing: Patsavas' music choices The only reason they can do it is because when they hit the ball, it is extremely loud, so if they didn't do it during a thunderstorm when there was already alot of noise, humans would wonder what the hell was going on.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
Yeah, this film is all hype, no substance. Shack's review pretty much nails it. They seriously not only could have but should have cut at least 20 minutes out of this laborious film. The acting is also pretty much awful. Stewart shows little emotion and it's almost impossible to buy her attraction to Edward. As for him, Pattinson is equally bad. When he's supposed to look conflicted it looks more like he just really has to go to the bathroom And the baseball scene was laughable, especially the lame reasoning given for playing during a storm. The only parts that showed life were the scenes focusing on the villains. They could have done a lot more with their scenes stalking and killing humans. Showing more, for one thing would at least have livened up the monotony. Also, for a film based on a book by, written and directed by women, Twilight has a distinctly pre-feminist view of relationships and the world in general.

wow.... might be the worst film I have ever seen in theatres... honestly.
It was also the most unintentionally hilarious film of all time. Absolutely nothing except the music works in this film. nothing. I was cracking up throughout the entire film, as was a good portion of the crowd. Definitely worth watching but for all the wrong reasons. This felt like a satire.

It is something to be seen. I went with my sister and her two girlfriends and they are in denial that Robert is a terrible actor. They all agreed that he is amazingly handsome. I on the other hand thought he was creepy.

i think Shack summed it up quite well. The book is marginally better, but meh. Stories like this have been told way better.

6/10 -> C
First of all, there is not enought story or development here for the movie to last two hours. Second of all, the story itself is a boring pastiche of so many times seen teen love stories with a completely unecessary vampire twist. It played a role in the movie, but not a vital one. Completely underused element.
The acting is - ehmmmm, fine for this kind of movie. Never expected anything better really. Though some line deliveries were soooo off the mark. Too stressed and too theatrical for boring and expected revelations.
The directing is crap. Good thing they got rid of Hardwicke. She's no good at all.
And yet again I can't say the movie was a complete and utter bore and disaster. Imagine that.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
What a fucking awful film. The acting was laughably bad, even though I admit the two leads had chemistry...and the scenes with the Cullen family were fun too...and it had a special sort of charm as a whole...but it was still terrible and pretty boring as well. The effects were hilariously bad, everyone spoke like they were constipated, the dialogue was horrible, the villains pathetic...it was just really really mediocre. I can't believe this is going to outgross Quantum of Solace.

I don't agree with your pessimism, it's far from great, wouldn't even call it good, but watchable enough as a popcorn flick IMO. However your statement about the comedy is incredibly true. If anyone has read the books than you will realise this movie takes itself so unnaturally seriously. The book was actually pretty light hearted despite subject matter, and the characters were fun and charasmatic. This felt like it was trying to be as dark and serious as TDK, but had no reason to be. "This is why we can't go out in the sunlight!" (cause you look like quartz rock?) 5/10, mostly because I love the book, and while this doesn't do it justice, it probably seems better to someone who knows what's coming.

I am actually kind of excited for New Moon, with some decent direction I think these kids could do a fine job acting. They need to adapt the dialogue a lot better though.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
I thought I'd like it more, but many of the scenes were just really awkward. Everything was quite average and meh. Wouldn't call it a bad movie, I'd watch it again sometime, but it really could have been quite a bit better, doesn't really compare to the book which is solid.

 Re: Twilight (2008)
Its actually watchable to my surprise I expected a complete an utter disaster.
That said its rather bland, some points.
The two lovers seem to be having a shitload of mini-orgasms every time they talk to each other, and punctuate it with an odd speech impediment The person who choose the music needs to be shot, every one paired with a scene its not suited to. Still a Radiohead song in the credits so kudo's. The action and "effects" are hilarious. They need to cut all the ridiculous scenes with the vampire running. The dialogue is cheesy delight, i'll assume its from the book.
Oh and the ending makes no sense, they show us a woman staring and they walking down stairs???? Ok then.
