 Re: The Incredible Hulk
First off just a small rant: Why can't some people follow a movies narrative? I watched this with some friends and one of them just couldn't follow along, he just kept asking questions about what just happened. I mean its not like I'd seen the film already and was able to explain in any great detail. I was watching the film for the first time also and the constant interuptions became annoying. (end rant)
Ok onto the review. So despite some hulk size plot holes and some shoddy cgi work in a few scenes this was an entertaining flick overall with the good outweighing the bad. They did a good job paying tribute to the original tv show and poking fun at the character without hurting his credibility. I can't say it was better than Ironman, because it wasn't, but it was definitely better than Spiderman 2 & 3. A decent mindless popcorn flick fit for summer.
Grade B My only question is now that Ed Norton seems to have pissed off the studio by not promoting the film and rocky relationship they had just getting the film made who's going to play Bruce Banner in the sequel?

C Is it possible your grade will be raised higher due to the fact you were probably tired after seeing it or before or did you simply have issues with it cause your review alongside Arsi's seems like night and day in terms of grade and enjoyment??? I guess what I'm asking is that will you see this again or not??

i will say one thing. the dark knight came into this year as the leading contender for quality. Right now, with Ironman and Hulk, The Dark Knight has a lot of pressure on it to perform. because we've had 2 very quality superhero movies that weren't just good, but fantastic. the caped crusader has a lot to live upto
A+ I'm crying tears of joy after your review.. I really wanted to see this at Midnight last night, but my old ass can't handle movies past midnight anymore.. The fact that your more of a DC Comic fan and BATMAN fan and say TDK has alot to live up to cause of the Awesomeness of this movie shocks me.. I never thought I'd see or hear you say this.. How do all of you Batfans feel about this???

I mean, it's really not a bad superhero film. It's leaps and bounds better than the likes of Ghost Rider, X-Men III, Spidey 3, the Fantastic Four films, Catwoman. But it's NOWHERE NEAR an A+ or, one of the greatest superhero films ever made. Not even close. I suspect when more users see it this weekend, Arsi is going to have to either backtrack or support the hell out of his review. Jesus, your avatar is some bold ass shit.. Can we have an avatar of HULK SMASHING Obama??

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
The Incredible Hulk was on par with Iron-Man, it just depends on what you like. This franchise was indeed saved, no question about it, as I don't think I've ever seen a better effort made in giving the audience exactly what they want. The cast all does a fine job, especially Edward Norton as Bruce Banner. Liv Tyler, looking her usual stunning self, probably had the funniest scene in the film. William Hurt does a fine job as the relentless General Thunderbolt Ross. Tim Roth is great as the frustrated Emil Blonsky. And let's not forget Tim Blake Nelson in a great setup turn as Samuel Sterns, AKA...The Leader. He's gonna be great in the next film! Louis Leterrier does a fantastic job blending the best parts of the classic TV show with the best parts of the comic, and I can't see how anybody who is fans of both would be disappointed. All the tips of the hat in the film, like the Stanley's pizza (Stan Lee's pizza), the cameo by the man himself, as well as Lou Ferrigno (who also did a great job voicing the Hulk, with a little help from sound tech!), and the cameo of the late Bill Bixby, via a TV rerun of the Courtship of Eddie's Father, made this the best fanboy fueled movie ever filmed. Cameo characters like "Jack McGee (from the TV show) and Jim Wilson (from the comic) were also nice touches, as were the Stark logo and seeing Nick Fury's name on documents, along with SHIELD's logo. Hearing the TV show's piano theme almost brought a tear to my eyes! The Captain America references has me salivating for what's to come. The action and the effects were tremendous. The Hulk is the best realized humanoid creature yet. Leagues beyond what they could do in 2003. Totally badass, and Batman won't come close to matching this kind of action. Even Iron-Man doesn't match it. I got my wish for what I wanted to hear the Hulk say. He says "Betty", he says "Hulk Smash!", and even though he doesn't say "Hulk is strongest on there is", that victory roar said it all. It was nice to hear "Leave me alone", too. Apparently, he hadn't watched the news yet and learned that his name was "Hulk". The Robert Downey Jr. scene at the end was seemless, reconfirming that the quality of Incredible Hulk stands side by side with Iron-Man. The scene that really hit me, was Hulk's reaction to the thunderstorm, and all I could think about was how fucking awesome it was going to be when he met up with the one who controls all of that, a character you know better as Thor. When those two fight...holy shit!!! Still missing Rick Jones, but everything else was note perfect! A

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
A complete 180 from the horrid 2003 version. This time around the story and pacing flows so much better. The CGI done on the Hulk is also a complete improvement as he looked much more real life blending into the surrounding backdrops with ease. The action scenes are spectacular and left me wanting more. I do have one question though, I thought the Hulk got bigger as he got more angry? But I didn't see him transform himself any larger as the fight with Abomination went on. And then there was the ending with Tony Stark/Iron Man. I thought it was priceless as they are now tying in the Avengers with each passing Marvel movie. Bring on Captain America and Thor!!

A- That getting bigger thing was Ang Lee's fuck up. The Hulk gets STRONGER, not BIGGER as he gets angry. That was shown well in this film as he was eventually able to overtake the Abomination because of that, and he was also able to regroup and get to his feet when the military was blasting him with that sound wave thing.

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
Solid Solid good fun comic book movie. Much better than Ang Lee's Hulk. Ed Norton was amazing. The development of both his character and Tim Roth's were great. The special effects and fight scenes were great. Tyler and Hurt do fall short though which brings the movie down but not much. 8/10Not as good as Iron Man but damn close HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!! Munk·E wrote: Misutaa Supaakoru wrote: Is there anything after the credits? The producers laughing at everyone for wasting their money to see what they saw in '03? What they/we saw in '03 was nothing compared to this. Edward Norton did a way better job than Eric Bana. The Hulk in that film didnt feel like The Hulk. They tried to make him seem different then he actually is. Which is just badass!! You are going to see it. I recall you not being that excited at all for Iron Man and you gave it a high A.

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, THIS is how Superhero movies are done.. Right now, this HAS to be probably the BEST, Absolute BEST I have seen in I don't know how long.. We begin with the opening credits of the movie which the Director made out to be like a Horror movie, everything right down to the newspaper articles about "Green Sasquatch" sightings, the pictures of the vehicles and military weapons destroyed, everything had a real grim tone to it and it sort of reminded me of more the Peter David or Bruce Jones Graphic Novels of the HULK from the look of it.. We see quick flashes of how the Gamma accident took place that didn't need 2 hours of explaining and simply got right to the point and wasted no time, no uneeded exposition like many origin movie seem to do, even the 1st SPIDERMAN or BATMAN BEGINS seemed drawn out at times, but this movie kept a quick pace to it that only let up during the scenes between Norton and Liv Tyler and came across with actual feeling between the 2, even if she did overdo it with the crying, it still felt genuine..
Right after the opening credits, we take you to somewhere in Brazil, where Dr. Banner is trying to keep a low profile while being in contact with the Mysterious Mr. BLUE, a contact who supposedly can aid in a cure for Bruce Banner.. As Banner keeps to himself, he also is harrassed by some locals who have absolutely no idea what there getting themselves into and after an ass beating ensues from the locals on Banner in a bottling plant where he works, we finally see the HULK and in darkness, he looks positively scary and fierce as hell.. What makes our 1st glimpse of this MARVEL character so cool and so real is not just the CGI, but the Director and FX team in charge of this give you the moviegoer that sense of realness, the Law of Physiques playing into it with the sheer size and weight of the HULK and booming sound in the theatre that shooked the damn place that gave you a sense at how real it felt in terms of being set in a real world environment that was sorely absent frm the 2003 movie.. This HULK looked ripped and refined and not the bouncing baby huey Ang Lee gave us with crappy FX back then..
Shortly after the HULK dispatches the locals beating up on him in the bottling plant, we see the military homing in on him in the form of the sneering and scenery stealing Tim Roth, who's as brutal a soldier as he ends up being in the form of a Supervillain later in the movie.. The guy shoots a dog with no feeling, no remorse whatsoever and it's scenes like this that I feel aren't intended for small children.. This movie right off the bat feels more of a grownup type of film that at times almost pushed the PG-13 Rating it felt..
The cast is probably the best cast for a superhero movie with acting that really was top notch across the board and the setup with Tim Blake Nelson who is the Mysterious Mr. BLUE in contact with Mr. GREEN adds the humor to the movie playing a guy who gets a hardon watching Banner transform into the HULK strapped to the table that looked positively painful to endure from the looks of it during the transformation scene.. During the movie and toward the end, we see Nelson's character who plays Dr. Samuel Sterns receive an accidental dose of the tainted Gamma blood fall into a cut on his forehead, causing his head to swell and a wicked smile on his face that sets things up for the next villain known only as The LEADER in the comics..
The Battle scenes with the HULK ranging from the Bottling plant, to the College Campus all the way through the final battle really were as realistic as it gets.. Now what I find interesting in this whole thing and all this talk of who would play the character of CAPTAIN AMERICA in an upcoming future movie would have to be Tim Roth cause when you really think about it, he was CAPTAIN AMERICA in this movie in human form before he became The ABOMINATION and I think it could work based on the Super Soldier Serum the General injected in him..
I could go on and on with this review and it's probably the longest review I've ever posted, but with the Final Battle and the scene at the end with Tony Stark was quite the crowd pleaser, especially when he said that "He was forming a Team".. Once again, MARVEL Studio is 2 for 2 on theit 2 summer movies with IRONMAN and now this movie.. The crowd was Sold Out and everyoine was very happy knowing that this clearly wiped the bad taste of the 2003 movie right from everyone's memory and I greatly look forward to the sequel which after this weekend will ultimately be made..
I give this movie my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION at an "A".. Perfect running time that's not 2.5 hours and flowed really quick.. As of now like Baba stated, The DARK KNIGHT has an awful LOT to live up to as the Best summer action movie cxause as of now, The INCREDIBLE HULK takes it..

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
Pros:
The action scenes are great. Hulk in this is a huge improvement over the Ang Lee version. Tony Stark and setting up the Avengers movie. Great ending. Mr. Blue's transformation. (sequel?)
Cons:
The acting. Norton walks through his performance, Tyler is awful, Roth is alright. Forced humor. It's not funny. This is not Iron Man.
It's a fun summer movie that has some of the most spectacular action scenes of the year. Huge improvement on the first. Lay off the cheese next time though.

- B+ I thought the line about the NY subway was lame and didn't work at all. Not helping was the fact that it has been in all the TV spots recently. The "I know a few ways you can control that anger" line worked though as Tyler yelled at the cab driver. The funniest part was Downey Jr. at the end. Just the way he delivered the lines totally worked. He's an awesome actor.

B+ It was a tad short in a good way that made it short and very sweet, but to be an A it undoubtedly coulda used abit more. Loved Norton and Tyler, Roth was a bit but other than that... Good action, really liked the story, good special effects, good music...good film. A lot better than the 1st, hopefuly with more money the sequel will be better.

 Re: The Incredible Hulk
some comments....
- really enjoyed the fight at the campus - that was great - and better than the last fight. - should the Hulk have been contained on that gurney without escaping - even before Liv got on top of him - just think he would have changed faster.
- should the soldier at a small doze been able to keep up with the Hulk.
- and that hospital scene - boy was that soldier f'ed up - and then he re-generated back to normal. Pretty cool.
anyway, overall a very good movie and equal to Iron-Man. Most great/good and some ??????.
