I absolutely love this flick. It's definately the best film of the six, and it's one of the best films period. It combines the best elements of ANH and ESB, then combines them into one kick ass swirl of Star Wars awesomeness! The character of Vader is explored more deeply, and Luke turns from a sniveling wimp, to a Jedi badass. The fight on Endor is incredible, as is the Throne Room scene near the end. Overall, it is the perfect conclusion to one of the most important film series of all time.
A+

Just watched it, and attack of the clones, about to see Sith tomorrow.
Anyway. I felt this was a big improvement of form from The Empire Strikes Back and certainly had more of the elements that made the first one fun. The finale was excellent and i seemed to have been the only person in cinema history who didnt know what happened to Darth Vader at the end. Ironic that im spoiled about all the new films released weeks before they arrive - but i didnt even know what happened in Star Wars [i thought Darth Vader died in the second one]
My only problem is the chase scenes were too long and a lot of the stuff in the forest could have been taken out.
But still, wonderful fun, im surprised [again] how much im loving star wars
4/4.

I always thought that the movie was undeservingly bashed by some. To me, it's on par with Empire Strikes Back. Both are quite inferior to A New Hope, but still good, old-fashioned fun. I wasn't nearly as annoyed by the Ewoks as I was by Jar Jar Binks and showdown between Luke, Vader and the Emperor in the Throne Room belongs into cinema history. That part is very well-executed and makes up for the somewhat lagging for half of the movie. Good conclusion to the (generally somewhat overrated) trilogy.

Uninspired. My least favorite of the six, but still worth a "B" due to the Throne Room scenes.

 Dies a little inside
Empire Stikes Back is hands down the best, to be compared to an inferior movie like ROTJ is blasphemy

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
well the film has one of the best scenes in the entire series.
The scenes with Luke, Vader and Palpatine are just amazing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
ROTJ is better then ROTS.
Both films have a fault for being so uneven.
However ROTJ is way more fun with space battles and with Jabba the Hutt. The final scenes with Luke and Vader and the Emperor are some of the best in the series.
ROTS really only got good when Anakin turned evil really. Last third of the film was very good but the first 2/3 were not.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
I actually think the 1/3 of Sith was the best and felt the most like one of the older films. The 2nd half is so fucking rushed it feels like a highlight reel (Which makes it pretty hard to dislike)
Here's the issue with Lucas. If he could have divided the third film in three films the prequel trilogy probably would have been loved. People never wanted to see the Rise of Anakin or his tragic love story. They wanted see Darth Vader at his most powerful.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
The last 70 minutes or so of Sith are the best stretch in the entire franchise. It has nothing to do with matching up to the original trilogy -- there's just some really great stuff there.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Call me a sucker for Greek drama, which is essentially Episode III's climax. I would say something snarky and insulting to deflect your questioning of me, but I see Garrus and just think, "Nah, he just needs a hug."

Re: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Watched the original trilogy in its original form over the past week. I used to really enjoy Return of the Jedi as a kid, but now it's so disappointing. I think it stems from the horrible writing between the main 3 of the cast.
My biggest issues with it: -Leia seemingly doesn't react at all due Vader being her father this entire time -Han doesn't even seem to remember Lando just betrayed him, even though it was an hour ago for him -Vader has nothing to do but move from place to place for the first 1.5 hours of the movie, which is such a jump from its dominating power and control in Empire -The Death Star plot all over again (though the space battle is one redeeming factor) -The entire cast of Jabba's palace (with the exception of Jabba) -20% of the script seems to be characters translating for other characters -The look of Lando's co-pilot
Probably a B-/C+ for me now.

The final 30 minutes are the best of the series, IMO.
