Finally, some people are coming around to the realization of this film's cleverness...

B-, though the movie is never boring and the two leads gave stellar performances, the movie itself was just too weak in dealing with the super obvious scenario of what happened to the murder weapon as well as the illogical character actions used to create false drama. Like The Illusionist, it's almost annoying how much it wants to pat itself on the back for being clever when it really isn't.

I hope Hopkins and Gosling will be remembered during the WOKJ Motion Picture Awards.

Very good acting, boring story, so-so twist, solid writing. An overall pretty good flick. Mostly for the acting.

Sure, Gosling and Hopkins are both pretty great, but if only they were given something to do! Instead, we're stuck with The Silence of the Devil's Advocate, only without anything interesting happening. This film had the perfect opportunity to have some great courtroom fireworks, with the kind of brilliant back-and-forth usually only found in an Aaron Sorkin script, but, as Sorkin is nowhere near this project, we get some half-assed character development and a terribly weak 'story'. Not to mention that utterly inane, retarded conclusion, which not only requires every character to act moronically, but also assumes that the audience will find the twist much more interesting than it actually is. This is John Grisham for people who don't like reading.

With a bland title like Fracture, the filmmakers have ensured I will never never watch whatever it is that this is.

The addition of Ryan "look, ma, I'm actin' " Gosling does not help matters.

6/10 -> C

Ryan Gosling is the only thing that keeps this movie from being utterly boring and unwatchable. Anthony Hopkins mistakenly thinks he's in a new Hannibal movie in some scenes, while the whole case jumps the shark early on.

Gregory Hoblit directed 3 great films: Fracture, Frequency, and Primal Fear - - somebody give this guy a budget to make his next feature!!!

Fracture

This is a fantastic film. Not the first time I've seen it, but I just rewatched it with my wife (the first time she's seen it) and since I didn't review on KJ yet; I loved it all over again. It's a cunning psychological thriller, and it grips you from the beginning. Gosling is cool and charming, and gives a pretty decent performance, and Hopkins is in his best killer-mode (even better than when playing Hannibal Lecter). I didn't know Rosamund Pike when I first watched Fracture, but I do now, which adds to my appreciation.

Very solid film, only to come a bit undone at the end. Gosling and Hopkins are both great and it's well directed by Hoblit.
