You're doing yourself a huge disfavor by doing that. It's easily the best movie in wide release right now and it deserves to be seen. Don't wait until DVD.

It's very good, but it's not for everyone...

Bridge to Terabithia was one of my favorite books when I was younger, and the film holds true to it's spirit. The CGI scenes are a bit much at times, but are still one of the best ways I've seen a kid's imagination games put on screen.

I saw BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA again. I heart it just the same and my rating remains. I cried again . My niece loved it and my dad and mom really liked it, my dad more than my mom. My mom didn't like that it had fantasy stuff but she really liked the real stuff. I liked Josh Hutcherson in it more this time. I liked him before, but this time I got more out of his performance. He's still no AnnaSophia, but he gives a very good, mature performance.

I liked how the movie intertwined fantasy with the real-life world. Most movies would over-do the special effects but I don't think this one did. Good family movie, a solid B.

A-
I thought the movie's only flaw was that it went overboard with the visual trickery, I thought that the imagination sequences worked best where they would see a tree that looked like a monster and pretend it was, or when they first go into Terabithia and it's just small shadows in the imagination, or when they imagine the view from the treetop, or for me personally the best scene in the movie, when Robb is yelling into the wind. When it created detailed creatures and monsters like in the big creature fight scene, or the ending, it gets to be a bit too much. I felt that if they mostly set the camera in reality and showed the kids in the real world pretending there's monsters there, rather than there actually being monsters on screen, it would've been perfect.
For the most part though, it is a near perfect family film. Hutcherson and Robb are fantastic, and I await what films they do in the future. Touching, enlightening, enjoyable, what more can I say that hasn't already in this thread. A real gem.

After seeing all talk about this film I finally saw it and Oh My God that twist is a sucker punch to the stomach and comes out of nowhere! This is the first 2007 film I've seen and this is going to stay in my top ten. Everyone should see this it is not just a kids film. Girls will balling there eyes out and guys I dare you not to tear up just a little bit or get butterflies in your stomach. The only other time I kind of teared up was the ending of Finding Neverland. I would recommend everyone who wrote this off as a kiddie movie go out and rent it, now that it's out on DVD. You won't be disappointed...

Totally agree. I watched it again tonight and cried my eyes out even with knowing the conclusion in advance.

Same here.
This was one of the most heartwarming films I've seen in recent memory, and by the end of it I was completely gone. I did not see that coming at all. Hutcherson and Robb were superb, as was the actress who played Hutcherson's younger sister. So cute. This is probably the best movie of 2007 so far.

Yeah, this was a very sweet, very sad film. I think everyone else here has summed up my feelings well. Nice to finally find something good to offer from 2007.

LOVED the book as a kid, finally got a chance to rent this little treasure. Quite a moving movie, haven't been that close to crying in a movie for some time... The little sister was easily the best of the movie.

It didn't do a lot for me.
It's refreshing to see a kids' film dealing with such mature themes as death in these manners (with imagination, like someone said, a la Pan's Labyrinth), but I think the death here is manipulative. It's sudden, comes too late in the film, and thus feels oddly placed and miscalculated - not emotional, like it should.
Most of the kids' acting is also thoroughly annoying. The two leads are adequate but a little grating.
I actually liked the relatively low amount of fantasy and, especially, its incorporation in the final scene. Liked the ambition. But overall I was unmoved.
C+ or thereabouts.

This coupled with your A- for Drek 3 makes your opinion no longer have any sway.

Really enjoyed it. It got better as it went. Both kids were great, and pretty much every character introduced had their own unique feel to them (Music teacher, their Eng? teacher, and both bullies, as well as the parents and Jess's little sister). And I really enjoyed the ending actually. For some reason though (haven't read the book), it felt to me like the author was stumped on how to actually end the story, so she decided to kill Leslie off. Just my opinion, I'll have to read the book though. And no, I didn't like the ending because of Leslie's death. I liked it because it was something that rarely happens (main character(s)) dying. And the death really made Jess realize just how much he cared for her (and vice-versa when Leslie's dad told him that she loved him). I do wish their troll hunter ended up with Jess though.
