The battle scene on the ice was intense. The second battle? Not so much. The cast was fairly strong all around; nobody did too bad, but nobody stuck out either. I really liked the theme the movie was going for, as well as Arthur's final speech to his knights. Overall it wasn't as bad as some had mde it out to be. Certainly not an epic movie in the same vein as Lord of the Rings or Gladiator, but a decent epic nonetheless. B

They should have gone all-out and embraced the mythic qualities instead of basically presenting us with a run-of-the-mill medieval film...a tale like this needs grandeur, colour, outlandish events etc..

The only thing better than Keira Knightley, would be Keira twice nightly...

(Note to self: be sure to choose a cool yet punny stage name if I ever take up acting...)

Anyways, on to King Arthur:

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie - it's "personal" scale of telling the Arthur story ended up being quite passionate and intense. The acting and action was solid and the screenplay was too.

4 out of 5.

What a mess. One of the most boring and lifeless films of 2004, with only one somewhat interesting scene in the form of that ice fight which was still completely unbelievable but somewhat fun. Even though some of the performances are somewhat decent, the film's script is a mess. C'mon, if a supporting character goes on about the way he wants to be buried should he die, do you really think he's going to make it to the end? When the final battle came, I just lost all interest entirely, which I don't think was the film makers intention. D

I agree with everything here, right down to the grade and the icve battle being the only energetic thing in the whole thing. Meh. D

It's not bad, but it's certainly not great. I admire the idea of stripping the myth away from King Arthur; I just don't think this was the way to do it.
