Which is exactly why something like Inception will hold up better over time. SS is basically a gimmick to fool the audience the first time through. Inception's gimmick is that it can fool you even during repeat viewings since the thing has so much ambiguity. It makes it more rewarding to be able to discuss the various theories with other people and it truly is Nolan's gift to moviegoers. He is engaging us instead of just letting us sit there like passive viewers. He wants us to let our own imaginations run wild and see where it takes us in our analysis of this film.

^Exactly. The lack of a true "AH-HAH!" moment is actually much better for the movie as a whole.
I cannot wait to crutch back to the theater to see because this film is MONEYYYYYYYYYYY!

 Re: Inception
saw it. I can't figure out how to grade it after my first viewing. I was shocked with how much depth and imagination was in this film but something just felt missing. I need to see it again. If I had to give it a grade after my first viewing it would either be a B+ or an A+. I'll figure it out after my second viewing.
My friend did sum up the film for someone who didnt understand it though:

If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like your wanting to "crutch back" to the theatre morseo to contribute to the movies box office that your obsessed with than actually wanting to see the movie itself.. Your more into the films MONEYYYYYYYYYYYY and actually don't give a shit about the movie.. What gives Excel???

 Re: Inception
Cobb: "Okay, okay... I mean it this time - - it's the sixth level dream within a dream that is impossible!"
Inception is a flat out pseudo-intellectual load of malarkey. The director outs himself when he has his characters describe how they plan to fool their mark, and how their dream story has to be simple and consistent to succeed - - how lame that he then fails within his own parameters.
It wouldn't even be so bad if the clunky rat's maze of a story wasn't splattered to pieces by the ADD-addled camera work and editing.
And one thing that is even more unforgivable: the score. Yow!!! It's terrible. When it's not being oppressively annoying, it's just plain annoying. (Though, perhaps it's designed to be so annoying to stop you from being able to think about the silly story too hard.)
I don't get the critical adulation for Nolan - - - imho, he's a one trick pony who has never again risen close to his one masterpiece Memento. People go on and on about M. Night Shyamalan repeating himself with diminishing returns, but Nolan is the one truly guilty of this charge - - except without Shyamalan's talent and originality. His movies will not stand the test of time, and the people of the year 2035 will laugh at the naïveté of Nolan fanboi's - - they will laugh long and hard, and from deep in their bellies... they will laugh until bile spews from their noses and they push STOP and ERASE on the file containing all his movies.
Inception is not just bad, it's a waste of the talent of many fine actors, it's a insult to the intelligence of our species, it's a filthy stain on the toilet bowl of film, it's poorly done smoke and mirrors, it's horrendous.
After all the set-up of bending reality with the Architect, nothing ever materializes in the later story to fulfil that promise. It ends up being a shallow excuse to briefly show off the cgi. The whole movie is like that - - throw a bunch of ostensibly clever ideas at the audience and hope they don't notice they add up to nothing. Add another lap to their pointless labyrinth. Nolan is a BEWB (baffle 'em with bullshit) writer - - he is incapable of writing a truly dramatic tale, he waves his hands furiously in an impotent attempt to distract us.
Listening to the audience coming out of the theatre, I heard a small group discussing the movie. One guy seem to be the self-appointed leader, who had clearly prepped himself by reading a cheat sheet of the plot points before the screening. Only with great prodding on his part did the others discuss the story with a resigned boredom glaring from their eyes. People need to be repeatedly told this film is smart, so they can keep trying to fool themselves into believing it is, until they finally capitulate to the hype. Watch for the Nolanites to work themselves into a fever doing the same.
Inception stinks.
0 out of 5.
1 out of 5.*
{* I raised my grade because at least Nolan was kind enough not to subject us to this mess in 3D - - he deserves props for not succumbing to this current wretched fad.}

Bradley Witherberry has the most grotesque taste. The film must be good indeed.
