 Re: The Dark Knight
"Heterosexist" was the biggest word used in teacher's college. I remember one teacher correcting someone for saying "My girlfriend". She was like "Can you try to use partner instead, especially when you're around students..."

 Re: The Dark Knight
I think the whole homosocial themes in The Dark Knight are more so to have a heterosexual male connection to the audience, which after all is what this film attempts to appeal to the most. I have no problem in saying I am a very effeminate heterosexual male, perhaps a reason many of my friends are homosexuals, but even then I still feel "manly" connections to yes a hyper-heterosexual Batman and Bruce Wayne. My point is that I feel most men of my type do have these connections, and as such it further proves that the homosocial aspects of The Dark Knight are purely emotional.
However to claim Gotham as a homosocial city is partly ignorant, at least in regards to the modernized Catwoman. She presents a sort of romance for Bruce Wayne and Batman alike, and although she is a bit destructive, she is very much presented in higher regards than Rachel. Furthermore she is very much an anti-heroine of her own, where she proves she can handle her own self and is a character ment to be sympathized perhaps even empathized with by us the spectators. Even further, the citizens of Gotham in many cases undersestimate her, but she continues to surpass their expectations, perhaps presented a possible homosocial society or anti-female society as wrong and backward and well ignorant.
Lastly I disagree with your claims on the Joker, but you present valid points to which I can't refute, only I can say they are in the end a matter of perception to which I do not percieve.

 Re: The Dark Knight
I've decided that the best part of the movie is not the way it was shot, the acting, the story, the bat, or anything.
It was the shrilling buzzing sound seconds or minutes before Joker would show up. Best use of atmospheric audio queues ever

Yeah I remember one guy said he walked out of Transformers on his second viewing, didn't make any sense though. A couple of us asked but I never saw his response. I should make that thread here. And howcome u weren't IP banned?

The only thing I can think of is that I used phrases like "Holy shit" in the Olympics thread and "We're kicking ass in the swimming events," etc. Meanwhile, you've got posters dropping F-bombs at the news of Potter being moved and yet none of them will get banned.

Evan, Please do not hijack this thread. Take it through PM. Just another analogy. There are 2 guys. One guy shoplifted and other guy killed someone. Would u expect both of them to get the same punishment.

 Re: The Dark Knight
Question on Batman - as I just saw it for the second time - this time on Imax? Maybe some questions have been answered but I don't feel like reading these 60 pages.
- Did the Joker want to die at the end of Batman - when Batman was riding at him with the motorcycle > The Joker kept saying, hit me but Batman passed by him.
- Did the Joker tell Batman the wrong locations - as didn't Batman say he was going for the girl.
- Was the Scarecrow killed in the van??? Did Batman crush him when he jumped in the parking garage.
- Guess we don't know the Joker back story yet - as he told the story of his up-growing 3 different ways.
- With Health gone will we see the Joker again - or will they do a scarecrow, bring him back quickly to kill.
- and if Health had lived, I am guessing, the joker might have been brought back for a longer time.
end......

end...... I wonder. He might have. I know he really wanted HD to live because of the good he was doing for the city but I know he wouldn't have let Rachel Die. And he still thought she was gonna marry him so he wouldn't have let her die. So that's why I think The Joker mixed up the Locations. And because he wanted Harvey To live, so he could turn him on his side.

 Re: The Dark Knight
Two things of note that are in the original script that's in that book they're selling in stores:
1. When describing Dent's body on the ground, it goes something like this: "Dent's body lays on the ground. Grave." But DEFINITELY not dead, or lifeless. I wonder...
2. Batman originally responds to Gordon when he asks which person he is going after: "Dent knew the risks when he took the job."
And one other thing, the script showed how brilliant Ledger truly was. He created like 3 of the most memorable lines in the movie all on his own, they weren't in the script.

end...... 1. Yes, the Joker wants Batman to kill him, which would break Batman's one rule (not killing). If you noticed, the Joker was laughing when Batman threw him off the building at the end of the movie, but Batman saves him and he's actually disappointed by the fact that he doesn't get to have the last laugh on Batman. 2. Yes, the Joker intentionally gave Batman the wrong locations because he knew Batman would go after Rachel. 3. No, Scarecrow was not killed. There's a quick shot of Batman talking to Scarecrow and the wannabe Batman vigilantes sitting against the parking garage wall. He pulls the mask off Scarecrow and Scarecrow makes a quip, "That's not my diagnosis" in reference to whether Batman is crazy or not. Scarecrow is alive and probably in Arkham Asylum or prison for the rest of the movie. 4. The Joker intentionally lied about his backstory.

I'll have to check it again next time I'm at Borders or B&N.
