You know, not everyone has to like Star Wars Episode III, BKB? I most likely will lower my grade for it as well, but I need to see it again on DVD first.
*Anyways* Back on topic, so they really are going to make a sequel to this? I never heard about it, but the ending was so brilliant on how the showed the Joker card. I just thought they were tying it into the old Batman, but a new series would be awesome!!

Dude, to go from rating a movie like SITH from a "B+" initially to a damn "D" is weak.. Funny how I haven't lowered my grade for BATMAN BEGINS and still give it a 9.5 out of 10 even though loking back on it now, it was pretty damn boring with very little action to boot.. Perhaps when I see it on DVD in October, my grade will lower as well..

So, BKB, tell me, did you like Batman Begins more than you like ROTS? Because you gave Batman Begins an A and ROTS a B+, but you praise ROTS constantly and bash Batman Begins. So explain...

Ok... so I've seen it 3 times now, and its weird...
The first time I loved it, it was absolutely amazing... the 2nd time it lost a little something... maybe it was just me being really tired from work... but the 3rd time it was amazing once again
Oh Batman... you and your emotion trickery

An absolutely terrific film. Not only is it the best of the Batman films - easily besting Burton's stylish and Schumacher's gaudy ones - but it is one of the best films in recent memory. The plot is intriguing, the acting is excellent all-around, the action is quite realistic, and the production design is amazing. Nolan definitely knows how to tell a story. I really have no nitpicks about the story, or any elements of the film, for that matter. It really is flawless.
One of the things that really separates this from the previous Batman films is the story focus. Instead of concentrating on the flashy villains, this one delved deep into the dark psyche of Bruce Wayne - and showed why he is Batman. By making Batman, not the villains, the star of the show, the drama actually outdoes the action and makes this film much more intelligent than the average comic book flick. The grand villain plot is a bit far-fetched, and there is one too many villains - I would have preferred Scarecrow to be the main baddie, rather than Ra's - but it does not blemish the overall story.
The acting, as stated, was superb. Bale easily gives the best performance of this film, and of any Batman, for that matter. His distinguishing between Bruce Wayne and Batman adds some credibility to the film, as well as making the Dark Knight even more terrifying. Among the supporting cast, Freeman and Caine give solid performances, Neeson is good but a bit one-note, Oldman is great, and Murphy is terrific as Scarecrow. Very charismatic and chilling. Holmes is a bit flat but doesn't ruin the movie - she's actually better than I was expecting. Hauer and Wilkinson are wasted, and both of their characters could have easily been written out.
I very much liked the fact that stunts, not CG, were used in the action scenes. It very much added to the plausibility of the film and looked great also. The tone of the film was very dark without becoming Gothic (which would have been too reminiscient of Burton) and the set design was simply phenomenal. Once again, it was dark without becoming unrealistic. The music was memorable without having to resort to Elfman's old score, quite an achievement. And Nolan's direction is fantastic. One of the best working today.
So, all in all, a simply fantastic film. I could find things to nitpick about, sure, but it would not detract from my opinion of the film. This is excellent as both a dark character drama and a comic book blockbuster. As it stands now, this is slightly above X2 for #1 on my list of best comic book films.

My grade has come down to an A- 9/10
I think I am starting to hate this movie more... I mean, here is Batman not killing a MURDERER yet he basically burns down a house that probably killed dozens of Ra's Ahl Gul's henchmen? Doesn't make sense. "I won't murder this man who murdered other people for his own pleasure because I don't believe in true justice. But I will burn your house down, possibly murdering dozens of people WHO FIGHT INJUSTICE!" I mean, if anyone knew anything about Batman, Batman IS a murderer and in his first appearance he killed bad guys without a second thought.
And what's up with the Scarerow? He was such an awesome character but not only is he hardly in this movie, he gets his ASS kicked by Rachel and never comes back. Is he that much of a loser? How is he threatening in anyway? Because he can scare you yet gets his ass kicked by a little shocker? Pathetic! What a waste of potentially a badass bad guy. Falcone is also taken out too fast and is pretty much wasted as well.
There are other problems such as humans having water in them and such but I won't go into these problems right mow.

Batman Begins was fantastic. I doubt there'll be a film this year that I like more.

BATMAN BEGINS - 8/10 (A-)
LOVED IT!!!! I can't believe it but I just loved the hell out of this one. The acting was amazing, the story was much better than your usual BATMAN film. I'm so in love with Katie Holmes right now (I'm letting the whole Tom Cruise thing not get to me). I'll definetely check this out out again soon!

Another B to add to the pile. Great action when it got going, but a few too many continuity errors that just annoyed me to much. For a Batman film its second behind Batman Returns for me, much improved on the last few.

I love this movie as well and it gives me that ticking little feeling! Any movie that gives me that I know I really love! A+
This movie in my opinion is even with War of the Worlds. I love them both.

Dont kill me....
I didnt find this movie ALL THAT GOOD. It had its share of good parts, and its share of bad parts, but it isn't some sort of classic movie, that is beyond great. Here is my opinion:
The Good:
-Terrific Acting
-Decent pacing
-Nice story
-Good tone to the story
The Bad:
-The action scenes were too undefined...hard to see what was happening
-Villain not emphasized...more of a story of..well..Batman beggining
-Dragged on towards the end
-Uneeded characters that were just..eck!
One thing that really got on my nerves though was how, when batman put on the suit, his voice turned all raspy and smokey. I know thats how batman talks, but it was just funny after a while
Overall, a decent Superhero movie, but great fun for a summer flick. It had a great story, but the action scenes were just...blah! Far better then any other Batman movie since the first 2.
Grade: B-

You know, that's actually the reason why this movie is so liked by me and many others. The previous Batman flicks emphasized the villains and completely forgot Batman imself. This is a Batman movie about Batman, finally. It doesn't make the mistake of giving the villains too much weight.

I saw it again last night and I have to say, I still love the film, there is just one thing wrong with it. I don't think Christian Bail is a good Batman at all. I am sure I'm one of the only ones that thinks that but oh well. If there was someone else, I'm sure it would have been even better. Michael Caine was great, really hilarious! I'll definetely buy it because it holds up with rewatches.
8/10 (A-)

I agree. And this was sort of a good and bad point of the movie. But a movie like Spiderman emphasized scenes both on Peter Parker's life and Spiderman's fighting. But I felt Batman sort of forgot about the villain all together...and it just didn't feel like a Superhero movie because of that.
But it def. showed us how Batman began...which I guess..was the whole point of the movie.

That's probably also why Spider-Man and Superman are nowehere near IMDB's all-time Top 100, but Batman Begins is in it

Yeah the original should have been called "Joker" - hell, Nicholson got top billing for goodness sakes!

Wow! I'm pretty certain I just witness the best comic book movie ever. It mixed drama with action so well. I can't believe a lot of people are calling this film boring. I didn't find it boring at all. I thought the story was engaging, and it explained and showed Batman's origin amazingly. I also thought the actors were all superb. Especially Christian Bale, and Michael Caine. Morgan Freeman was hilarious, as was Caine with his one liners. "All those pushups, and you can't even lift up a log?" That made me laugh so hard! The finale was great. The Scarecrow was a great villian, and they really brought his character to life brilliantly. I thought Cillian Murphy did a fantastic job, and the mask was creepy as hell. All of the hallucinations everyone was having were very scary, and it looked like scenes from a horror movie, but I loved every moment of this movie. It is definitely one of the darkest Batman movies, and I just love it. Katie Holmes really didn't bother me that much. It's also great to see a movie not relying on CGI so much. I thought the practical special effects looked amazing, and I prefer them over CGI anyday. If this is just a taste of what is coming, then I'm all for it, and I can't wait to see Batman battle Joker. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job directing, and if WB knows what good for them they will get him back for the sequel. This is my favorite Batman movie, and I also thought Christian Bale was hands down the best Batman ever. The storyline was executed very well, and I loved the finale with the train, that was just so eye popping. Gary Oldman also did a great job as Commissoner Gordan. The batmobile I thought was terrific. The chase scene on the freeway was excellent. I wish they would make more comic book movies like this. It was just a beauty to watch. The cinematography I thought was breathtaking, and the score was beautiful. Wow, this has to be one of the longest reviews I have ever wrote! Well, I loved this movie, and it reserves my first A+ of this year, making it my number one movie of the year. It's going to take a masterpiece to knock this baby off its spot. I'm seeing Star Wars soon, so it may be in for a quick stay, but you never know.
A+

TRAITOR! Lecherous, villaneous traitor!
Henceforth, all praise of Spider-Man heaped upon it by you shall be met with suspicion, and from my vantage point, with contempt.
Were you my son, and I your father, I would disown you in so quick a time, a butterfly would scarcely beat its wings once before I should have cut all ties!
Now go the way of traitors and witness thy Fates drag thee to Cocytus! Hence, out of my sight!

If I had to rank the best comic book adaptations of all time, it'd go like this:
1. Spider-Man
2. X2: X-Men United
3. X-Men
4. Spider-Man 2
5. Batman Begins
