It's some good entertainment (and it truly is nothing more than that), but even in terms of pure entertainment I've seen better (like 300). Action is good, but it's pretty slow to start up. There are also many corny moments. and I don't appreciate the devotion Michael Bay has for the US army.

Humour them. They're Americans.

As for the Product Placement. It was expected with the cars.

The Nokia thing was actually worked in and kind of funny. It fit within the plotlines.

The X-box and Mt. Dew thing were COMPLETELY dumb. It is as bad as the Macy Gray thing in Spider-Man. Fortunately it's quick and there is no words, but still. That Xbox gag was just... ugh.

The dude with the briefcase had an Apple computer, so that's where the Apple tie-in came up, I guess. An HP laptop was shown earlier, though.

Considirng where "more then meets the eye" comes from and Shia's delivery, yes it was.

I think I'm actually one of the few who loved this movie because of its complete cornniess and stupidity. Honestly, I wouldn't call this an "sci-fi-action" flick. I'd call it a action-comedy blockbuster.

I know where it comes from, and that's one of the reasons why I can't see the humor in it. That's kind of a joke I would follow with a "hyuck hyuck" which means I was making a stupid corny joke that isnt even close to being funny.

at least for the blooper reel.

I always wonder why no one ever puts a goofy ass alternate ending like that into a DVD release.

Very entertaining.

I was a huge fan of the cartoon back in the 80's, so hearing the authentic Prime voiceover narration to start the movie hooked me right away. I must admit that the comedic tone that they went for through a good chunk of the film was initially a little jarring, but since most of the material actually worked, I didn't mind. This could be the comedy of the year. The line that got the biggest laugh from me - "You eyeing my piece, fifty cent?". Hell, some scenes were even downright charming, especially Sam's wooing of the hot chick with the aid of Bumblebee. Needless to say this was a little surreal coming from a Michael Bay picture. Not everything works though - the government official, the parents and the spastic mini-transformer were a tad too much.

The real stars of the show are the transformers themselves and their introductory sequence in the alley put a huge smile on my face......ahh memories. And sure, some of these designs are bastardized, but I still feel they got the essence of the Autobots and their personalities right there in that scene. The writers really play fast and loose with the mythology, but I really didn't mind and I even thought the government secretly keeping Megatron and the cube under wraps and gaining technology from them was a neat idea. We're then treated to one hell of a transformer smackdown in the middle of a city that definitely equals the heights of cgi excellence as Jurassic Park, T2, King Kong and War of the Worlds. I can't even fathom how much work it took to choreograph the action on set and match it to the what the computer artists had to execute, the compositing is near flawless. The amount of debris and mayhem is astounding. And most importantly, Bay is actually up to the task here and delivers some coherent action. Slow motion is used pretty sparingly and put to good use for two great shots; one with Ironhide flipping to avoid a missile from Devastator and the other showing Megatron smashing Prime right through a building. Of course, you can still count on Mikey to deliver multiple helicopter-silhouetted-against-the-sun shots and ridiculous 360 camera rotation (even ripping his own bad boys 2 gun fight sequence), but I guess old habits die hard.

I think the movie would have been better had it focused more on Sam and eliminated a few of the more over-the-top elements, but on the whole, it was quite satisfying from an old-school fan's perspective.

B+

The best alternate ending HAS TO BE Dodgeball. There is none better.
Shia should have said More to you than meets the eye and then nodded to the camera. twice.

That alternate ending would cost like $3million.

thats the one. though its slightly different.

basically, its the same ending as the first. to the dot. it just ends earlier when stiller is rejoicing his victory in slow motion. credits run.

i spat out my drink when i saw that.

I gave it a C. It was an OK movie. Nothing special. Bay gives us confusing action scenes as usual. When Transformers fight they seem like junk rolling in some junkyard...

The whole "masterbation" thing was pretty funny. The family had great chemistry. Also Ratchet's pheremone line and Ironhide's encounter with the family dog gave me a chuckle.
