The Eye, also known as Seeing Ghosts, is a 2002 horror film directed by the Pang brothers. The film spawned two sequels by the Pang brothers, The Eye 2 and The Eye 10. There are two remakes of this film, Naina, made in 2005 in India and The Eye, a 2008 Hollywood production starring Jessica Alba and produced by Peter Chan and Paula Wagner.

Interesting little horror movie. The story is decent and the lead's acting is effective. The movie's atmosphere is very creepy but the movie is unfortunately not at all scary. I give this a solid B-

The Eye once again displays why Asian horror in general is superior to most horror that Hollywood produces nowadays. It is not a masterpiece like Shutter and not as complex as A Tale of Two Sisters, but it is a great horror movie with a nice idea. It is nothing we haven't seen before in a way. I would describe this movie as a mixture of The Sixth Sense and The Mothman Prophecies.

What I really liked about this movie was that while it was not very scary, it's first half is very very suspenseful. The movie's plotline is simple. A woman who was born blind has an eye surgery and can see after that. The side effect? She sees dead people and while they don't mean any harm, that is still quite freaky, so she tries to investigate it and arrives at a somewhat shocking conclusion. Speaking of the conclusion, that is the part of the movie that I feel could have been done much better, but the rest is really great, especially for all fans of good horror cinema.

The acting is servicable all around, but the strong aspect of the movie is the suspense. I need to point that out. There are two scenes that really had me on the edge of my seat in unbearable suspense. Just think the elevator scene when you see the movie. Very freaky. I recommend it to everyone who likes good horror.

Above average movie. I would not consider it a true horror movie. The concept is good, though parts of its are remniscent of The Sixth Sense.

I'd agree with Lecter on this one, very well made but ulitimately slightly underwhelming. The conclusion could have been done so much better. The first parts of the film were very, very creepy and very well done. The elevator scene was immensly suspenseful, though it seems to be a common vein in a lot of Asian horror films.

Having said that, once the film moves beyond the initial atmospherics and delves into the real plot it sort of falls apart. The conclusion is interesting and creative, but ultimately could have been handled much better. True to form it is very confusing at times, but somehow straightens out at the end, sort of.

I liked how the film ended, but wish that the last 20 minutes or so had been done with a bit more care. Some of the scenes were just a bit ... silly almost. Oh well, good concept, great visual style, superb soundtrack were high points. The acting was only passable unfortunately and the plot could have used some work.
