I downloaded this a couple of months ago, but because it wasn't subtitled all that I did was watch the fight scenes, which were unbelievable. The combination of the sheer brutality of knees and elbows connecting and the grace and agility of Tony Jaa is a must see for fans of martial arts films and hell, anybody who wants to have a fun time at the movies. I'm excited that my local theatre is showing it and will be seeing it on Saturday.

Ong-Bak - 7/10.

The spectacular feats of Mr. Jaa overcome the simple and cheesy narrative, resulting in a damn fine crowd-pleaser of a flick. I felt like throwing some elbows and knees and cracking some skulls as I walked out of the theatre :rock: .

Btw: I have the Thay DVD. No Subs or anything but you easy get the plot. But as I said your watching this for stunts and hard real looking fights.

Almost went to see this ... but read some reviews ... all of which said amazing fight scenes and that this guy would be around (in hopefully better roles) and decided that since I love a good story ... wouldnt go see it.

Kinda wish i had.

ONG-BAK: THE THAI WARRIOR - 8/10 (A-)
Absolutely amazing! I liked it even more than the hilarious KUNG FU HUSTLE. The acting wasn't amazing or anything, actually the girl was pretty bad and annoying but I looked past that. Some of the movie was really funny, I laughed quite hard more than once and some of the movie really pulls at your heartstrings, though with the bad acting it seems more funny than sad (except the girl and the coke, that really was sad and disturbing). If you like asian films make sure you check out ONG-BAK, I thought it was an amazing journey.

This movie is a throwback to Hong-Kong actioners of the 70s. The story is as simple as it is cheesy. Same goes for the one-dimensional characters. The movie is very straightforward, the villaisn are plainly evil and the hero is all-around good and always defeats the evil. But that makes this movie so charming. Moreover, Tony Jaa delivers some truly spectacular fights.

Hey, you guys are pretty tough reviewers of this excellent movie. I'm hardly what you'd call a fan of martial arts movies, but this one was action packed from beginning to end. The main character had awesome skills and the supporting characters of his cousin and cousin's girlfriend were very funny. The story was simple, as it needs to be in this kind of action driven film, and I loved the very Thai specific setting of the movie, especially the Tuk Tuk chase. Perhaps the best part of all was the director's sense of kinetic style and the ace editing he used to acheive this. This is a great movie!

Forget the plot!!! This is an awesome Kick ass movie for action fans!!! I found myself cringing and saying shit that look like in hurt dozens of times!! Tony Jaa is diffenately on my Radar as the next Asian kung fu star. I just hope he ignores Hollywood and sticks to his homeland when making movies. Hollywood ruined Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Up next for Mr. Jaa-- "Hot and Sour Soup" can't wait!!

This is the most fun I have had watching a martial arts movie that I can remember. The action sequences are fantastic. My only criticism with them lies on the director's side. Especially during the alley scene, why did we have to see every stunt, done once, from different angles? I can usually pick up on the fact that the stunt is great just by seeing it once. But to show the same thing again, just from a different angle, became kind of distracting. That's my only real criticism of the film besides the flimsy plot, but in the long run, we're just there to see the action, and it's great.

By the way. Did anyone notice during the car chase, written in graffiti on the side of a bridge (Right after a cart shoots off the top of it and onto what looks like a rundown apartment building and then crashes to the ground) it said "Hi Luc Besson we are waiting for you"? I wonder what that's about.

I rewatched it just recently at a movie night with friends and seriously, the movie's storyx is so hollow that we never even listened to the dialogue after the first 30 minutes, but the fights are amazing. It is a good party film. Tony Jaa should have a decent career ahead of him. Finally a worthy Jet Li follow-up.

The story is threadbare but honestly I couldn't give a toss because simply seeing Tony Jaa in action is more then enough. He is stunning to watch and if you get the DVD you'll have even more respect for him as the behind the scenes footage is wonderful.
