 The Nutty Professor (1996)
The Nutty Professor Quote: The Nutty Professor is a 1996 science fiction-romantic comedy film starring Eddie Murphy. It is a remake of the 1963 film of the same name, starring Jerry Lewis. The original music score was composed by David Newman. The film won an Academy Award for Makeup.
Murphy plays benevolent university professor Sherman Klump, who is morbidly obese. He invents a miracle weight-loss potion and, hoping to win the affection of the girl of his dreams, tries it on himself. Social situations demand that he call himself by a different name while he is using the potion and his slim self becomes an independent personality. Like the original film's Julius Kelp, Klump's trim and stylish (but arrogant) alter ego is also named Buddy Love. Murphy plays a total of seven characters in the film, including Sherman, most of Sherman's family (except for his nephew, Ernie "Hercules" Klump Jr. played by actor Jamal Mixon) and an over-the-top parody of Richard Simmons.

This is an awesome comedy, and really showcases Murphy's talents well. The dinner table scenes with the Klumps were hysterical (Mike Douglas used to make me moist when I'd watch his show...only white man ever done that do me...Mike Douglas. ) , and it's a shame that the sequel was not very good.

I loved this movie! Eddie Murphy is at his best here. The table scenes with the Klumps are by far the best, and most hilarious in the movie. The scenes with the stand up comic Reggie are also very funny. I really loved everything about this movie. The actors are great, and Jada Pinkett is so hot and sultry. The plot is simple, but the way it unfolds is so hysterical, and it has a lot of memorable characters. The whole Klump family is a great addition to the movie, and the Grandma was my favorite, she was so damn funny. "Come on Cletus! It aint nuthin' but a short walk. You might walk over, but you limpin' back! I aint no easy win, nigga!" =D>

You know what? Yeah, it's dumb and many jokes are pretty cheap, but it still entertains me every single time I watch it and it's still quite a bit better than the sequel. Eddie Murphy is still at the top of the game in this one. Very rewatchable movie with some nice make-up.
