I get the last word. Don't make me go off on you, bradley. I have pictures of you watching The Fellowship of the Ring and enjoying it.

It was exactly what I expected, and nothing more.

Not a whole lot of humor, but pretty fun, with no real substance.

The Ocean's franchise is coasting on its slickness, though. Good thing this'll probably be the last. It really has no where to go from here.

It was ok. Its light fluff all in all but so was the first one but that was a better film. It was entertaining enough I guess. Start was brilliant and then it lagged until the last 30 mins or so which were great again. I havnt seen O12 so I cant compare the two.

Grade : B-

As a fan of the second one, this is an improvement. The only thing that keeps it short of the first one is that it's not as fresh or as clever. After a slow beginning in which every scene is literally in the dark and almost had me falling asleep, the film picks up once the gang gets going. After the slow beginning, I really didn't have a problem with it.

It's absolutely on par with the both predecessors. Seriously, I find barely any difference in quality and in my opinion of them. Once again, I have the same complaints and the same good things to say about it. Once again, the cast is great if you look at the names, but the chemistry simply does not seem to be there, IMO. Another wasted opportunity. Most of the time, they just stand around, trying to look cool and easygoing. Which isn't the worst thing to do in a light flick like this, but I can't quite say that the potential was explored. It just seems to me, once again, that the film tries too hard to be cool, stylish and original, just like the predecessors.

Ellen Barkin was a complete waste and I must say that Roberts' presence was somewhat missed in this. Al Pacino made a great villain in this, actually the best of the series so far. I was never bored throughout the film and some sequences were quite nice to look at (the elevators!). Las Vegas was beautifully captured on screen too. The laughs were somewhat lacking, though (in that aspect, the second film succeeded).

Ebert has a healthy list of grievances, many of which I share. When the film isn't boring the audience, it (as dk perfectly stated) coasts on slickness, playing out like an expensive, soulless party. The scenery is fantastic as always, but Pacino is a waste, the cast phones it in with a series of cameos, and Warner Brothers makes a healthy buck. My patience for these types of films - coasting on names and intensely stupid "smart" stories - is wearing thin.

It's not as much fun as the first two, though it's better than 12 because it doesn't have a blindsided, silly twist. It's very slick and stylish, as expected, and the cast oozes chemistry, but the plot is fairly weak, relatively speaking, and the heist isn't that interesting. Only when it starts to come together at the end do things start to pick up. I smiled a lot, but didn't laugh out loud that much - not a lot of straight jokes in this one, but lots of subtle ones. The dialogue is as sharp as always, and everything looks great, so you could do a lot worse, but you could also do a lot better.

I found Ocean's 13 to be a lot better than 12, but not as good as 11, which felt a lot fresher at the time.

I love Las Vegas, and the city felt like a character in the film, which made it very watchable to me. It helped that I watched this on HD-DVD and the movie and city looked so good.

As for the plot, it felt a little paint by numbers, but it was fun watching all the characters take down Pacino. All in all a pleasant movie.

Much better than 12 but still inferior to the original. The flow of the story is better (than 12) but the heist itself felt a bit too much and too less at the same time. The involvement of Garcia was shoe-horned in. It was good to see these characters back in action but also just a re-run of the original.

Post Re: Ocean's Thirteen
The franchise deserved another sequel and I always thought they could have done another one, but after seeing 11, 12 and 13 pretty much back to back it feels right they didn't make another one. This has it's good and fun moments, but is ultimately just a less creative and inferior sequel. I enjoyed seeing Barkin in the role, but she's no Zeta-Jones or Roberts and definitely could not at all compensate for both of them. Glad we got a bit of Garcia in this again though, but Pacino isn't at his best here. As if for some reason they deliberately told him to be business, but I think more eccentricity would have helped with the part. The part of Affleck in Mexico is some of the best in the series though, simply hilarious, but for the rest it doesn't do quite enough and isn't as fun as the other two films. Still, they got the same gang back together and I find it impossible to not mostly enjoy it too. And while this is the least of the three, Soderbergh is just a great director and did deliver one of the best trilogy of the 00's.
