 Crash (1996)
Crash Quote: Crash is a 1996 Canadian/British drama thriller film written and directed by David Cronenberg based on the J. G. Ballard 1973 novel of the same name. It tells the story of a group of people who take sexual pleasure from car accidents, a notable form of paraphilia which caused considerable controversy on its release. The film stars James Spader, Holly Hunter, Elias Koteas, Deborah Kara Unger, and Rosanna Arquette.
Crash opened to mixed and highly divergent reactions from critics. While some praised the film for its daring premise and originality, others criticized its combination of graphic sexuality with violence. Although it was nominated for the Golden Palm at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival, it instead won the Special Jury Prize. The film's music score was composed by Howard Shore.

One of the weirdest films I have ever seen.
People who love watching other people and themselves get hurt in car crashers.
C+, Acting was great but the script wasn't entirely believeable.

THE FREAKIEST, MOST SHOCKING MOVIE EVER!!!
Ok, yea, when do you see mostly A list actors having a giant orgy after being rear ended OUTSIDE of porn? So much nudity, so much gore, so much freakshowness.
So, they get off the screwing each other after car accidents. Yea.

As much as I like weird, this one didn't work for me - it was made whilee Cronenburg was still in his hyper-artsy phase...
2 out of 5.

That blond chick was famous at the time. Spader was A/B, I'd say.
That's 2, maybe 3 out of 4 leads. Most.

Oh right, she'd just come off her triumphant work in Highlander III...
(...and James Spader was never A list - the peak of his fame was the 80's as a fringe member of the brat pack and then the indie hit Sex, Lies, and Videotape)

One of the single most unhinged, unpleasant films I have ever had the displeasure of watching.
An abomination.

 Re: Crash (1996)
see, i would never give this a failing grade. im not sure its successful, but it gets big props from me for at least engaging in this sort of a discourse, *especially* as a person with a queer identity. my sexual politics, i think, are outside of norms and i appreciate the director trying to engage in that sort of idea, but the end result is.... something. not sure if i like where he was taking it, and it certainly was sort of a mess.
