He does it a lot during sad movies. So he's probably used to it by now.

Now that you mention it, I remember briefly thinking that was going to happen when they went into the basement when I first saw it. That could have been a nice factor into a really good ending :-/ It was definitely implied that the chick creature was the main creature's girlfriend (not in the "let's go shopping and comb each others hair!" sense of the word, but in the "here's my varsity jacket, can I touch your boobs" sense). I just assumed that sub-plot got lost in the edit room.

Its awesome and it has a little bit of everything. As always Smith gave a great performance along with that damn dog ... yes, i almost cried. The only things i didnt like were the "monsters", VERY bad CGI. A

 Re: I Am Legend
I have a question about a point in the movie Spoiler The scene where Smiths runs in the trap and where short after his dog is "biten"........Was that one of his own traps and he could not remember that he placed it ??? (Remember it seemed that Smith took antipsychotic drugs so maybe he couldnt remember that he placed the trap.......or was the trap set up by those Zombies? I say.....He did set up the thing himself my buddy thought it was the Zombies...... Whatever I give it 5/10. New York at the begining is really well done then toward the end the movie slowed down.......and I though the happy end didnt fit.

 Re: I Am Legend
i'm pretty sure the zombies did it, because they were standing nearby waiting for him.

6/10 - C
A good movie that never did anything to amaze me. It had the potential to be great but I felt like I was watching the first cut of what will be a great movie once all the scenes are put in and it's reedited as it should be. I always felt like there was something lacking in every scene.

I AM LEGEND - 7/10 (B-)
What makes this movie is the relationship between Will Smith's character and his dog. It was incredibly sweet and moving. A certain thing that happens made me cry. It was heartbreaking. But other than that, while not bad, the rest is nothing special. There's not much to it and it isn't very exciting. The horrible, cartoony special effects don't help much and really take you out of the movie. The worst were the infected people.
Anyway, I liked it, even toyed with the idea of giving it a B, but then just decided that it wasn't quite good enough for a B.

 Re: I Am Legend
Just saw it for the first time on DVD since I somehow missed this in theaters. Overall, I liked the film although I can't help but feel the film loses it's way somehow in the third act. It's not that it turns into a bad movie or anything, but the whole survivor thing and the sacrifice just feels a little off. I know that plays into the "legend" idea, but something about it just felt hollow.
However on the whole this is pretty good. The monsters could've used a little bit more of a touch-up in the CGI department, but the rest of the visuals are pretty good. I also thought the scenes at the Brooklyn Bridge are very effective. And as for Smith, I'd say this is his second best performance to date, only behind his role in The Pursuit of Happyness. That saying, I think this is his most challenging role to date and he's up to the task. He's especially great in the scenes right after he's lost Sam.
So overall, I'd say it was a good movie that kind of loses it's way in the final act, but can be overlooked when you take what's come before it and Smith's performance into consideration.

 Re: I Am Legend
This had some of the worst (and most unnecessary) CGI I've ever seen in a major motion picture.

The chuckle-inspiring villians of the piece. Whatever happened to good old scary makeup and such? Originally the villains were going to be real actors, just ghettoed up with costumes and make-up. The director didn't think they were not even close to being scary enough, so he decided that'd be done with CGI. Unfortunately, they made the decision later in the production than normal, so the CGI on them doesn't look as clean as it would if they had made the choice from the beginning. I can understand the enemies (I thought they looked fine enough, but not great), but you have to admit the work done on post-apocalyptic New York was breath-taking.

Just an average flick from Smith. Not one of his best.
