Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Quote: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a 2001 American action adventure comedy film written, directed by, and starring Kevin Smith as Silent Bob, the fifth to be set in his View Askewniverse, a growing collection of characters and settings that developed out of his cult favorite Clerks. It focuses on the two titular characters, played respectively by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith.
The film features a large number of cameo appearances by famous actors, actresses and directors.
The title and logo for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are direct references to the second-released Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back.
Smith originally intended this to be the last film to use his View Askewniverse, or to feature Jay and Silent Bob. Five years later Smith reconsidered and decided to close out the series with Clerks II, resurrecting Jay and Silent Bob in supporting roles. In the end credits for that film it states the two might return someday. One of the funniest films ever. EVER. A

Pretty lame.
Nothing compared to Smith's other films, his last good one was Dogma.

As a Kevin Smith film, I don't think it really compares at all.
On its own, it's quite enjoyable. But you can't look at this as anything but a Kevin Smith film. I used to think this was my favorite Smith film, but I'm thinking more like least favorite (of the original five anyway, along with Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma). It's really funny, but his other work comes way ahead of this.
Solid B+.

No matter what Kevin Smith says, you really have to see his other films to understand what's really going on, because most of the jokes are inside jokes. If you've seen Clerks-Dogma, than you should be able to appreciate this one just the same. I'd say it's his funniest work yet, and with the added bonus of Will Ferrell, where can you go wrong?

This was the beginning of Kevin Smith's decline. It had potential, but it blew most of it sadly. Now, it is still a fairly funny movie, but it is seriously lacking the wit of older Kevin Smith films and relies way too much on gross-out humor. The cameo appearances are all great and the whole "Good Will Hunting 2" idea was ingenious, but overall, the movie is not very good. Jay and Silent Bob are great characters, but they are great SUPPORTING characters, always staying a bit in the background. Making them leads did not work out very well.

Yep, definitly not a Kevin Smith highlight. Compared to say Dogma, it's just not up to that level.

I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, and this is my favorite Smith movie. One of my top 20 favorite films of all time. It's low brow comedy at it's best.
Also, everytime I see Jay curse out the idiots at moviepoopshoot.com it always makes me think of this place... "you are the ones that are the ball lickers"... I can't tell you how many times I say that after reading a post.
A Kevin Smith autographed J&SBSB poster hangs in my house...
So yeah, I'm a fan of this one...

This movie has been treasured as the worst movie I have ever seen behind Terrovision and Ford Fairlane. I mean if you are going to make raunchy jokes you should at least be funny. Saying cock 100 times doesnt make you funny at all and this movie just drags on with the cock and fart jokes for a full hour before I ejected the movie out of the dvd player. This movie experience combined with the overated Clerks and Dogman makes Kevin Smith the most overated director. I guess you do need to be high to enjoy the movie

It was decent, but the thing I remember most about this movie are the deleted scenes. They cut out so many hilarious Will Ferral moments because "The audience seemed bored." Movie would have been so much better if they kept all those in.

The fact that I can hardly remember this, and I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, should tell you everything you need to know about this film. This started Smith's journey into ineptitude. Hopefully Clerks II is a return to form.

A mostly unfunny and stupid 'conclusion' to the Jersey quintology, as it makes the annoying Jay and Silent Bob the stars. The good: the numerous references to the previous films, the plentiful celebrity cameos, and Will Ferrell. The bad: everything else, including the poor acting, idiotic script, and silly humour. Still, it was better than Mallrats.

Re: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
This could not have been worse. A terrible filmmaker buying into his own legend and spending two incredibly self-indulgent and painful hours paying tribute to himself.
Everyone involved should be ashamed.

Re: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
I like this film less as time goes on
It works at the beginning, I was with it when Holden and Lee from Mallrats showed up, it was working as an inside joke movie. When it gets into its own storyline though, meaning the Elizabeth/Dushku/Larter stuff, it really doesn't work and becomes kind of unfunny.
I think it redeems itself at the end with Good Will Hunting 2 and more of his old characters, but for the most part, Smith's weakest (discounting Jersey Girl).

Re: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
It's a Kevin Smith movie, without an afterfought basically. Its hysterical and works on a funny jab at society in general. That being said, its not his strongest stuff as its mostly jokes, but the jokes work most of the time.
