Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
This month has been real disappointing. Five interesting originalish films and only one decent opening weekend out of it. Though I guess MGW is at least above Guy Ritchie's two films from last year and back to Wrath of Man levels.

About 6 people got high and watched Bob Marley in every theater it was in this weekend. 420, not a thing, now if it was released that weekend, maybe., lol how much money did they lose on putting it in 1000+ theaters. Shrek 2 did better on discount showings.
Ministry did as expected after Argyle. Henry Cavil's tongue sticking out can only do so much marketing wise.

Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
I'm kinda shocked Ministry seems pretty well received. High audience RT score and A- cinemascore. Ironically if Matthew Vaughn directed it it probably wouldve been a better movie than his Argyle.
Civil War's drop is actually not awful.

That’s the second time you’ve said that, why? Vaughn is Richie’s protege, they are interchangeable but Richie is better in this genre. Vaughn hurt this film’s chances, probably would have done 20-25 without argyle.

Agreed, fucking can’t stand that smell. I feel like the smell has only gotten worse in recent years, obviously because of legalization and lax in corporate drug enforcement, but still, I don’t need every place to smell like a New York subway. Somebody needs to shark tank that.

Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
Bad news, another bad week this month for the openers.
Good news, lack of real competition looks to seal the deal for both KFP4 and GvK to reach $200M+.
Ghostbusters is also having great legs late in its run where it can maybe pull $120M now (within $10M of Ghostbusters 2016 and 2021). That would be a great recovery.
Dune 2 is holding well but not $300M well. $290M still is great.

Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
KFP4 does even better to a 15% drop with actuals! 10.9% drop in PTA.
Just $36M from the original. Very impressive!

Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
The Bob Marley re-release was trying to hit the 100 million rights for bragging rights/ancillary, but it it's very interesting that it's not a weed movie despite, maybe because, people were nonchalantly lighting joints every scene. I don't think it really ingratiated itself with the stoner crowd

Re: Abigail/Ministry weekend thread
Back to back great weekly drops for KFP4 at <20%. Maybe can pull another $4M next weekend. Another 4 weeks for it before IF and 5 weeks before Garfield. 1 family film scheduled between Migration (Christmas) and Garfield (Memorial Weekend) over FIVE months. Needs an 8.61X multiplier from last weekend on to pass KFP1 for top in the franchise. Will likely wrap closer to $205M now but still awfully close.
