Post Oscar Nods Box Office
How will the box office end up for the big Oscar movies?
Here's what best picture currently looks like.
Barbie $636.2M Oppenheimer $327.0M Killers of the Flower Moon $67.4M Poor Things $20.7M The Holdovers $18.8M Past Lives $11.0M American Fiction $8.1M Anatomy of a Fall $4.0M The Zone of Interest $1.6M Maestro N/A
Oppenheimer could pick up another $5-10M, while Poor Things looks like it could be primed for an extended run if it holds well. $50M+.
American Fiction is still up in the air. Anatomy of a Fall and Zone of Interest would definitely benefit as well.
With the complete lack of big movies until Dune, and the return of small and mid size film appeal to moviegoers, would be cool to see some lucrative box office.

I think American Fiction could do well.

Oppenheimer is getting a China re-release as well as Dune 1. They are opening the same day but a few million there, domestic, JP and the path to $1B is still there!

A Beautiful Mind at $170M has to be the bigfest benefactor from the award. Maybe King's Speech for second?

Re: Post Oscar Nods Box Office
Definitely made $$$ from the Oscars but I feel like being Russell Crowe's Gladiator follow up certainly helped it become a mega blockbuster.
Chicago meanwhile I felt got a huge advantage from Moulin Rouge getting musicals in vogue again with audiences and critics. It rode the Oscar train well.

Re: Post Oscar Nods Box Office
The King’s Speech feels like the last samurai for being obvious Oscar bait making it more popular
