ENDGAME = Most Anticipated Film Ever; Marvel > Star Wars
Feels like this is official now. Can we agree? NEVER thought a brand would surpass Star Wars but it seems certain that it has.
Final Prediction:
Midnights: $65m Friday: $65m Opening Day: $129.5m Saturday: $85m Sunday: $75m Opening weekend: $289.5m - a record that will last a decade (or until Reeves Bats faces Phoenix's Joker)
Even if I hate the film, I am calling it, the reviews and early grosses confirm it, Marvel has done the unthinkable, it's official:
MARVEL > STAR WARS for biggest cinematic brand of all
This (feels like it) is the most anticipated film of all time.
THE RISE OF SKYWALKER aint getting close to this bitch

Currently but cumulatively over time Star Wars is still more significant. We’ll see how Marvel is doing 20 years from now and how these films are remembered before we make such a declaration

Re: ENDGAME = Most Anticipated Film Ever; Marvel > Star Wars
It's hard to say. On one hand, Star Wars has endured for 40 years with only a brief cooling off period post-Jedi where the nation just seemed to be over it.
But as we saw with Solo: it's not necessarily a property that can support multiple theatrical franchises like Marvel. General audiences seem to have a finite appetite for SW. It's better off as a every 2-3 year series.
I'm also talking domestic only. International is probably another story.

It's not going to pass TFA in domestic gross, so it won't take the crown. Hype, sure, it has more hype. But the Star Wars fanbase is far superior.
Either way though, the Jurassic series is even more superior than Marvel. $990 mil WW on average (over 5 films). I think Star Wars is at $942 mil WW on average. (which is crazy over 10 films)

Opening day + previews: 130m Saturday: 95m Sunday: 75m
OW Total: 300m
But it still won't pass TFA with that number so Star Wars still king in record books. sup. its poss though that would be truly

It's doing over 300m OW and over 800m Total. It (much like other 2019 pop culture juggernaughts) mark the end of an era. It's an event like no other so I can seen the OW going even higher and the record remaining for a long time.

Remember, a $300 mil OW doesn't guarantee $800 mil total. IW only had like... a 2.6 multiplier? And that was with very little competition. This is running into Pikachu in 2 weeks.

Yes.
Boomer America and their pop culture touchstones are dying. It's a new America now, and the Avengers are supreme.

I'm refreshing some theaters pages around me, I'm seeing them in real time take away shows and add more for Endgame. one was going to show Pet Semetary just in the evening, now they tossed it out lol

I keep track of the booking for the local theaters around me and the 3 biggest multiplexes. Here are the total screens each movie opened with: Black Panther - 21.25 Force Awakens - 24 Last Jedi - 25.5 Infinity War - 26.75 Dark Knight Rises - 28 Captain Marvel - 29.75 Avengers Endgame - 44.25

No it’s not the most anticipated movie of all time. Star Wars > Marvel forever

I searched 10 cities for Friday evening with atom today and it’s consistently playing on a majority of screens in a few cities. Almost everywhere else it’s near 50%. The exceptions are just a few theaters that are also playing independent films, and a few others that have yet to fill all their screens. The WSJ reported that a theater chain in Ohio is playing it on 75% of their screens and 13 of 16 at their biggest multiplex. They are getting rid of Shazam and all the holdovers from April 12th or earlier. AMC is playing it 24 hours a day all weekend at 17 theaters. Sellouts and runtime will mostly limit it at 5-8 screen locations that can’t add enough showtimes, and on Thursday when it will sell out entire multiplexes.

Re: ENDGAME = Most Anticipated Film Ever; Marvel > Star Wars
The torch has been passed.
Unfortunately, The Last Jedi (though a box office success) and Solo really dragged Star Wars through the mud.
MCU is as popular as ever and is getting more and more so, and now they get to add all the Fox properties (Avengers v XMen will be the next movie to challenge Endgame (but I honestly see that record standing for 10+ years))
