 Re: Previews
Fantastic number. I think $120M is the floor, but depending on the Saturday drop it could do $130M+.

 Re: Previews
140m+, hoping WOM is strong enough to power it over 150m.

 Re: Previews
That's up quite a bit from even yesterday's guesstimates, which seems like a good sign for it being backloaded.

 Re: Previews
Ant-Man ended up making 8.94x its preview numbers for the OW. If Spider-Man plays like that, it will get to $137.7M. Guardians 1's 8.42 would give it $129.7M, and Suicide Squad's multi would be $100.4M. Suicide Squad is almost certainly too low and Ant-Man is probably a bit too high, but with better WOM it could happen. Tentatively, I'd say this the weekend is looking at $115-130M.
What I noticed while looking up comps is this will be the first nine digit live action opening in July since TDKR.

 Re: Previews
good number. It should be more frontloaded than some other Marvel openers though since this is July compared to May/November

 Re: Previews
If my theater is anything to go by this is going to be big. The 10:45am (first show) was sold out. Lots of families.
Despicable Me 3 is also going to have a nice hold.

 Re: Previews
That's a great number even with July some of these predictions seems WAY too low. If this plays like Marvel movies then the opening should be HUGE. I am still hoping it crosses $150m mark.

July 2014/2015 were weak and 2013/2016 only did well cause of family movies and comedies. Action movies ha e been shit mostly in the last 5 years in July. Apes 2 is the biggest live action opener in July since TDKR. It's pathetic. Studios are not recognizing how powerful a month it is imo though this year they did a much better job with their slate (though if Valerian and Emoji movie had switch it would have been better). Though thry also gave up on August this year for some reason cause I don't think any movie is going to break 100m within that month 2015 did well too, it had Minions, Trainwreck, Ant-Man and MI:5. 2014 was the only shitty recent July overall.
