 Sing! Sub 175m Club
While The Secret Life of Pets has been a huge hit, Illumination still has Sing! coming at the end of the year, and it looks like awfully derivative trash. Looks like it could have a few laughs, but it moreso looks like an animated Muppets ripoff. Add in Rogue One, Trolls and Moana, and families will be well served without giving money to this.
At best it will be the Shark Tale to Pets' Shrek. It will likely have an even worse percentage drop.

 Re: Sing! Sub 150m Club
I think it looks bad, but the trailer has had a good reaction the infinite number of times I've seen it before a movie this Summer. I'd MAYBE be in for a sub-200 thread...but that's probably unlikely too.

No. This will be big. I see a minimum of $250 million.

No. It will be enormous. Cute animals galore. Pop songs galore. Accessible, simple story. Holiday release. Illumination's general strength with Minions and The Secret Life of Pets.

 Re: Sing! Sub 200m Club
So is this just Glee with animals? Kids will love it. I'm not sure about the grown-up kids that powered Pets and Minions though. I'll say $180m for now.

Despicable Me franchicse had the Minions in their marketing, which appealed to basically everyone. Pets had a strong premise of "what do your pets do while you're not around", which has mass appeal (and the jokes were amusing to mostly everyone).
I don't remember a single joke in the Sing marketing. That's an issue for it. But being the #1 family option during the holidays will help a lot. It actually started at sub 150. But lesterg said there was no way it did way less than 200.

 Re: Sing! Sub 200m Club
$150m might be very interesting. I don't think Sing is a shoe-in for $200m total. Maybe zwackerm should do $175m that Magnus suggested.

Out. If the first two Alvin movies can do it, this can as well.

 Re: Sing! Sub 175m Club
What is the point of this thread? They probably made this movie for $60-$70m so anything over $130m is still another success for Illumination. In that regard all the bars set so far in this thread are utter dumb failures. Now I'm hoping this does better than Moana. Just because of zwackerm.

$150-170 million would absolutely not be a disappointment.
